Two New Silent Hill Games Reportedly In Development

Several years ago when Hideo Kojima was still working at Konami, there was a new Silent Hill game in development. Unfortunately, the game was never completed and Kojima has since left the company. Many have been wondering about the fate of the franchise, and it seems that there could be some good news.

According to a tweet by Aesthetic Gamer, it seems that Konami apparently has two Silent Hill games in the works. The tweet alleges that a couple of years ago, Konami had apparently reached out to several developers to get them to pitch ideas on how to bring the series back to life, and there could be two contenders being considered.

Aesthetic Gamer claims that one of the pitches Konami received was for a soft reboot of the franchise, while the other is apparently an episodic-style kind of game, similar to TellTale/Until Dawn. It is unclear if Konami will be looking to develop both simultaneously or if they might go with only one.

The tweet goes on to add that there is a “high chance” that at least one of the titles could be announced this year, but whether or not it will remains to be seen. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but if you’re a fan of the franchise, then this could be worth keeping an eye out for.

Boeing Successfully Tests The World’s Largest Twin-Engine Jet

Boeing did not have a particularly good 2019 due to a flaw in the system that pretty much grounded all of the company’s 737 planes. However, it seems that the company is still forging ahead with its developments and more recently, it looks like Boeing has successfully tested what could be the world’s largest twin-engine jet.

Known as the Boeing 777X, this is believed to be the world’s largest twin-engine jet which measures 252 feet long and over 235 feet across when its wingtips have been extended for flight. The testing saw the plane fly around the Washington state area for 3 hours and 51 minutes before it returned and landed back at the Boeing Field in Seattle.

The engines used in the plane are the GE9X engines which are said to provide about 100,000 pounds of thrust force each. The company is also boasting that with these engines, the planes should be 10% more fuel efficient compared to the competition. It will also be capable of carrying more passengers compared to its competitors.

According to Stan Deal, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, “Our Boeing team has taken the most successful twin-aisle jet of all time and made it even more efficient, more capable and more comfortable for all. Today’s safe first flight of the 777X is a tribute to the years of hard work and dedication from our teammates, our suppliers and our community partners in Washington state and across the globe.”

That being said, the 777X planes are not expected to go into service until 2021 where airlines such as Emirates are expected to start receiving their aircrafts.

Sonos Backtracks On Its Plans To End Support For Its Older Speakers

The problem with a lot of our modern day smart devices is that software support for them could end at any point in time, depending on the company that makes them. This problem was highlighted just last week when Sonos announced that they would be ending support for some of its legacy speakers.

This meant that in terms of software updates and new features, some Sonos speakers would no longer be receiving them past May this year. Naturally, this did not sit well with customers who probably never thought that their speakers would suddenly become redundant one day, but it looks like Sonos has since backtracked on those plans.

In a new post on its blog, Sonos’ CEO has since come forward to reassure customers that despite the company ending support for their speakers, it does not mean that they will stop working. He also clarified that while these speakers will no longer receive software updates and new features, he pledged that the company will continue to maintain them through bug fixes and security patches.

According to the CEO, Patrick Spence, “Many of you have invested heavily in your Sonos systems, and we intend to honor that investment for as long as possible. While legacy Sonos products won’t get new software features, we pledge to keep them updated with bug fixes and security patches for as long as possible. If we run into something core to the experience that can’t be addressed, we’ll work to offer an alternative solution and let you know about any changes you’ll see in your experience.”
