Fujifilm X-T4 Could Also Sport Digital Image Stabilization

One of the rumors surrounding the upcoming launch of Fujifilm’s next flagship camera, the Fujifilm X-T4, is that it could be adopting a feature from the Fujifilm X-H1. This comes in the form of in-body image stabilization where photographers will no longer need to seek out specific lenses with the feature.

However, according to a new report from Fuji Rumors, the X-T4 could be one heck of a stabilized beast because they are now claiming that the camera will also come with digital image stabilization. While it might sound like the features are working against each other, the report claims that it will play nicely with both in-body image stabilization as well as optical image stabilization.

This means that unless you’re shaking and moving the camera around a lot, in theory it would be near impossible to get a blurry or shaky photo with the camera. In case you’re unfamiliar, in-body image stabilization relies on actual physical hardware that tries to keep your camera’s sensor as steady as possible.

Digital image stabilization, as the name implies, is software driven, which we’ve seen used before in lower-end smartphones. However, if the rumors are true, it seems that the X-T4 could be using a combination of both. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but the X-T4 is said to be announced at the end of February, so we should have more details next week.

Xbox Series X Could Have A Greater Emphasis On Audio Quality

What makes a game immersive and fun to play? Obviously having a great storyline and gameplay helps. Next up is its graphics, but let’s not forget about the audio from the game, where having realistic sound effects and a killer soundtrack will no doubt help make players feel like they’re really there.

After all, there is a reason why soundtracks for games are so popular, because it can totally add to the mood. This is why it doesn’t come as a surprise to learn that with Microsoft’s Xbox Series X, the company could be looking not just to boost the performance of its console, but also improve on its audio quality.

This is according to a description for a GDC 2020 panel where it reads, “Learn from the audio designers of Borderlands 3 and Gears of War 5 around how a collaboration between Microsoft, Dolby, and our middleware partners kicked off a revolution with spatial sound that turns any pair of headphones into a multi-dimensional gateway to another world. Attendees will dive deep into the audio design pipeline (Project Acoustics) and the relationship to dedicated hardware-acceleration on newer generation Xbox consoles.”

That being said, it should be noted that for the most part, many gamers are more than happy using the default sound cards that typically come on motherboards, but if you think that audio quality on consoles could do with a boost, then the Xbox Series X could be worth keeping an eye out for.

Researchers Develop An Opt-Out App For Nearby Tracking Devices

These days, there are more apps, services, and devices that are constantly tracking us and gathering our data. Many companies have defended such practices, claiming that they use the information to improve on their products and to optimize them, and while some of it might be true, we imagine that many users are probably not too thrilled by it.

The good news is that researchers at Carnegie Mellon have developed an opt-out app that has been designed to allow users greater control over what is tracking them, even when they’re out in public and might not necessarily know that they are being tracked or have their data gathered on them.

According to the researchers, “Consider public cameras with facial recognition and scene recognition capabilities, Bluetooth beacons surreptitiously tracking your whereabouts at the mall, or your neighbor’s smart doorbell or smart speaker. The IoT Assistant app will let you discover the IoT devices around you and learn about the data they collect. If the device offers privacy choices like opting in or out of data collection, the app will help you access these choices.”

While this sounds incredibly promising, the downside is that companies and developers who make these products will need to choose to use this infrastructure. This means that if they don’t, then the app would be pretty much useless.

However, the researchers seem to be banking on laws like the General Data Protection Regulation and the California Consumer Privacy Act, in which they believe that their infrastructure will make it easier for companies to comply with these laws. You can check out the app’s demonstration in the video above if you want to get an idea on how it might work.
