Diablo IV Will Support Controllers For PC

Last year, Blizzard announced Diablo IV, the latest installment in the Diablo franchise. Unlike Diablo 3, where the PC version came out first and the console version followed later, Blizzard revealed that they will be developing both the PC and console version side-by-side, and that it looks like the PC version will support controller gameplay if that’s your preference.

According to Blizzard, “We wanted to give players the ability to switch between the two options freely, so our UI needed to be unified enough that swapping hardware inputs on the fly wouldn’t throw people completely off kilter. A unified UI means our layouts are more grid-based for ease of navigation, but it doesn’t necessarily mean an identical interaction flow.”

Diablo was primarily known as a click-based action RPG, but when Diablo 3 launched for consoles, Blizzard had to reinvent the game to support controllers. Many reviews of Diablo 3 for consoles have been largely positive so it’s not surprising that Blizzard would give PC gamers a similar experience by allowing the support for game controllers.

Whether or not you take Blizzard up on their offer is entirely up to you, but at least the option is there. That being said, this decision makes sense. Previously, Blizzard stated that they are aiming to support cross-platform play, so by introducing controller support, it should help to level the playing field a bit and make it a more consistent experience.

Valve Is Looking For ‘Host Cities’ For Their Next Dota 2 ‘The International’ Tournament

Valve’s The International Dota 2 tournament is one of the biggest eSports event of the year. The prize pool is simply ridiculous where every year, it only seems to be increasing. It also has the ability to draw a huge crowd, which is why it doesn’t come as a surprise that Valve is now taking an Olympics-like approach to the event.

According to a request for proposal document, Valve is approaching the next The International tournament like the Olympics, where they are soliciting proposals from host cities who might be interested in hosting the event. The company offers up some advantages to being a host city, where they cite an influx of visitors who will spend money in those cities, as well as give locals in the cities (temporary) jobs while helping to setup the event.

The document reads (in part), “Each [of the previous host cities] has seen an influx of visitors (about half of the attendees) that patronize their hotels, restaurants, and other tourist attractions,” Valve says. “Moreover, Valve works with local suppliers to source equipment such as lighting, rigging, broadcast equipment, and internet bandwidth. Valve also hires local skilled laborers to handle catering, construction, décor, printing, marketing, security, transportation, and entertainment. All of this typically results in a significant boost to the host city’s economy.”

Valve is giving hosts until the 31st of March to respond, so for now, it is unclear as to where the next tournament will be held. That being said, the coronavirus outbreak is proving to be a damper on major events, so it remains to be seen how Valve will handle this.

LEGO Minions Lair Set Puts Your Minions in a Minion

To celebrate the upcoming release of Minions: The Rise of Gru, LEGO has revealed several new sets inspired by the film. My favorite of them is this set that lets you create some larger minions for your minion minifigs to hang out in.

Set #75551, aka “Brick-built Minions and their Lair” features models of minions Kevin and Stuart, each of which opens up to reveal a part of the minion’s lair inside. You can also rebuild Kevin into a dopey looking minion named Bob. I love all of the details inside of these guys, including little tools, gauges, computer screens, knobs, and gears. The 876-piece set also comes with adorable minifig versions of Kevin, Stuart, and Bob.

The 876-piece set should hit the LEGO store on April 27, 2020, which should give you plenty of time to build your minion lair before the movie’s July 3 release.
