New Report Claims 5G iPad Pros Will Be Launching This Year

According to the rumors, it is believed that Apple will most likely be hopping on the 5G bandwagon this year with its new lineup of iPhones. However, if a new report from DigiTimes is to be believed, it seems that the iPhones will not be the company’s only 5G product this year, as apparently Apple could also be planning the launch of 5G iPad Pros.

Apple’s iPad lineup have long supported cellular connectivity, so for Apple to include 5G support in its iPads wouldn’t really come as a surprise. If true, then it is likely that the tablets will be making use of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X55 modems which will support 5G connectivity.

DigiTimes doesn’t always have the best track record when it comes to Apple related rumors. Their report is also somewhat contradictory to previous rumors, where top Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had previously claimed that 5G iPads are only expected in 2021, although we wouldn’t mind if it arrived earlier.

That being said, take it with a grain of salt for now. 5G coverage is still in the somewhat slow process of being rolled out, so it will probably be a while before we can expect similar coverage as 4G. So even if you get a 5G device, and due to the relatively shorter range of 5G, you might not necessarily be able to take full advantage of it just yet.

Researchers Develop A New Highly-Precise, Extremely Fast 3D Printing Process

3D printing is amazing as it allows us to create all manner of objects in a variety of shapes and sizes. However, the problem with the current method of 3D printing is that it can be a bit slow, and sometimes it might not be ideal if you’re looking for higher levels of precision. However, researchers at EPFL might have come up with a solution.

The researchers have recently announced that they have developed a new 3D printing process that they claim will be capable of printing highly-precise objects only in a matter of seconds, which you can check out for yourself in the video above which shows it in action.

According to Damien Loterie, the CEO of Readily3D (a spin-off company created by EPFL), “Conventional 3D printing techniques, known as additive manufacturing, build parts layer by layer. The problem is that soft objects made that way quickly fall apart.” The researchers believe that this technique can be used in a variety of fields, especially the medical field where they tested 3D printed arteries after teaming up with a surgeon, in which the results were said to be encouraging.

Unfortunately, right now the process is a bit limited in terms of size, where it is only capable of 2cm structures, but the researchers are hoping that this can be increased to 15cm in the future.

YouTube TV Subscriptions Made Through Apple’s App Store Will End In March

Apple’s App Store provides a place where users can manage their subscriptions easily. This is because Apple allows users to directly subscribe to various services through in-app purchases, but the only problem with that is that companies need to pay Apple a cut of up to 30% for all in-app purchases.

Unfortunately for YouTube TV subscribers, if you are subscribed through the App Store, note that your subscription will be coming to an end after the 13th of March. YouTube has been sending emails out to their users notifying them of these changes.

According to YouTube, “You’re currently subscribed to YouTube TV through Apple in-app purchases, so we’re writing to let you know that, starting March 13, 2020, YouTube TV will no longer accept payment through Apple in-app purchases.” This does not mean that iOS users will no longer be able to use the app, but rather if they want to keep watching, they will need to make the payment through YouTube TV’s own website.

YouTube does not state the reason for this change, but like we said, perhaps the 30% cut Apple takes from in-app purchases is something the company does not relish paying. YouTube is not alone in this as several other companies have made similar moves. Some have kept in-app purchases around, but increased the price to make up the difference.
