Potential Vaccine For The Coronavirus Has Been Sent For Human Trials

The world is facing a crisis right now with the coronavirus outbreak. This is because at the moment, there is no known cure for it, but there is some good news. Moderna, a biotech company, has recently announced that they have formulated a potential vaccine for the coronavirus and that it is now ready for human testing.

Vials of the vaccine have since been sent to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases where it will be used in Phase 1 of the study in the US. They are anticipating that the first clinical trials will begin near late April where 25 volunteers will be participating in the tests, with the results expected in July or August.

According to Moderna, “mRNA-1273 is an mRNA vaccine against the novel coronavirus encoding for a prefusion stabilized form of the Spike (S) protein, which was designed by Moderna in collaboration with NIAID. The S protein complex is necessary for membrane fusion and host cell infection and has been the target of vaccines against the coronaviruses responsible for Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).”

That being said, this does not mean that the vaccines are ready for public consumption just yet as trials will need to be conducted to test its viability. However, it is still good news because at least it would indicate that we are progressing towards something.

This Smartphone Can Dual Boot Both Android And Linux

Our smartphones come with an operating system that has been preloaded onto it. In this day and age, we’re pretty much limited to either iOS or Android. This is versus PCs where users have slightly more options. In fact, on PCs, users have the ability to dual boot operating systems, where two OS can live on a single device.

The good news is that if you wanted that feature for mobile, you’re in luck because Planet Computers has launched a new smartphone in the form of the Cosmo Communicator. With this smartphone, the company claims that it will be capable of dual booting both Android and Linux, or if you want, you can even add Debian.

Users will be able to multi-boot from these operating systems without them replacing each other, although the downside is that users will need to know how to partition their storage and also know their way around the boot menu, so this is definitely not something for your average smartphone user.

We imagine that this is a very niche device and if you’re interested in checking it out, head on over to Planet Computers’ website for the details. You will also be able to purchase the handset where it is being sold for £665.83.

Ultimate Ears Hyperboom Brings The Bass To Any Party

Bluetooth speakers are a dime a dozen, and for the most part, a lot of them tend to focus on portability which means that sometimes, sound quality is sacrificed in the process. However, if you are looking for a set of speakers that is both portable and has a good amount of bass, then Ultimate Ears might have something for you.

The company has recently announced their latest Bluetooth speaker in the form of the Hyperboom. While we haven’t heard it ourselves, Ultimate Ears is boasting that this speaker will be bringing the bass. The company claims that it will have more than six times the bass of the Megaboom 3, meaning that if dance music is something you enjoy, then these speakers should be pretty good for that.

Ultimate Ears is also boasting features like a wide dynamic range and a 24 hour battery life. There is also support for two Bluetooth devices, one 3.5mm aux, and one optical audio, meaning that there will be a multitude of options for users to choose from. There will also be an accompanying app for users to control the speakers with.

Unfortunately, the Hyperboom does not come cheap. The company will be releasing the Hyperboom early March where it will retail for $399.99.
