ARM-Based Mac Expected To Arrive In The Next 18-Months

It has been rumored for a while that Apple could be looking to launch ARM-based Mac computers in the future. Apple typically does not enjoy relying on other companies for parts, and generally prefers doing things themselves where they can. By going the ARM route, they will be able to stop relying on Intel for processors.

Plus, we have also seen ARM-based laptops launched in the past, so it’s not exactly a stretch of the imagination. That being said, it seems that an ARM-based future might be closer than we think. This is according to notable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who claims that within the next 18-months, Apple is expected to debut their first ARM-based Mac computer.

Kuo’s prediction is set within the next 12-18 months, meaning that at the earliest, it will be 2021 where the rumored device will launch. It is unclear if this will come in the form of a desktop computer or a laptop, and whether or not it will exist side-by-side Apple’s Intel offerings, or if it will replace a lineup entirely.

For those worried about performance, previous benchmarks have found that Apple’s A-series of chipsets used in its iPhones and iPads are getting closer to MacBook Pros in their performance, so there’s that. There is the issue with app compatibility, but Apple could have already started laying the foundation with Mac Catalyst that helps port iOS apps onto Mac.

Xbox One Users Can Now Eject Discs Using Their Controller

If you still largely rely on physical formats to play your Xbox games, you know that if you want to swap out discs, you will need to press a button on the console to eject the current disc. However, what if you’d rather not press the button? After all, CD/DVD players have long had the ability to eject discs remotely, so why not the Xbox, right?

The good news is that after seven years of this being a somewhat obvious feature that should have been included from the get-go, Microsoft has finally added the ability for users to eject discs from their Xbox One consoles using their controller. All they need to do is go to the main menu, highlight the disc, and then press the X button on their controllers and they’ll be good to go.

That being said, before you get too excited just yet, note that this feature is currently only available for those who are in the Xbox Insiders program, which is kind of like a beta. This means that Microsoft is still testing out the feature before they roll it out to the general public, so you might have to wait a bit before it eventually makes its way to you.

Like we said, we’re not sure why it took Microsoft this long to introduce the feature to the Xbox One, especially considering that this was a feature that the Xbox 360 already had, and with the Xbox One Series X looming, but we suppose better late than never, right?

Coronavirus Reportedly Causes iPad Demand In China To Surge

Apple’s iPad has long dominated the tablet scene, but it seems that recently over in China, there has been a surge in demand for them. This is according to a report from DigiTimes who claims that there is an increase in demand for tablets over in the region due to the coronavirus outbreak.

As you might have heard, the outbreak of the virus has resulted in many factories and businesses to shut down temporarily while the government attempts to contain it. However, since businesses cannot be expected to shut down entirely, many have resorted to remote working scenarios, where employees are expected to work from home remotely.

As a result, there is an increase in demand for portable devices like tablets like the iPad, where it makes it an ideal device for both workers and students to continue being productive even while at home. DigiTimes has also reported that as a result of the surge in demand, many online retailers have since sold out of the tablets, and those that do have remaining stock have hiked their prices to capitalize on the shortage.

It was previously reported that companies like Apple could potentially benefit from the coronavirus, where some have predicted that there might be an increase in App Store spending as more people are forced to stay home and need to find alternate means of entertainment.
