Japan Has Developed A 10-Minute Coronavirus Testing Kit

One of the problems with testing for illnesses is the waiting period. This can be nerve-wrecking because the uncertainty can cause a lot of undue stress in people. Given the current coronavirus outbreak plaguing the world, we’re sure that there are many people out there who are understandably worried.

However, over in Japan, a group of researchers have managed to create a coronavirus testing kit that they claim will be able to yield results in just 10 minutes. While it is not a cure, it will at least bring some relief to people who might have coronavirus-like symptoms, but are unsure if they have contracted the disease.

The testing kit is currently undergoing clinical trials in the Nagasaki Prefecture of Japan and it involves taking a swab from the nose or throat of the patient, and using fluorescent dye to show whether or not the person is infected with the virus. The kit itself is also relatively small and compact and weighs 2.4kg, making it ideal to be brought around and used around the country.

The 10 minute testing time is also faster than some other methods that were developed in other countries, such as Canada where researchers there developed a 30 minute testing kit.

Netflix Party Lets You Watch Shows With Your Friends While Practicing Social Distancing

Right now with more people practicing social distancing, it can be quite a lonely and isolating experience. However, this is necessary if we want to keep the coronavirus outbreak under control, and to prevent unnecessarily burdening our healthcare system, but there is good news for those who want to watch movies with their friends.

This comes in the form of a Chrome extension called Netflix Party that will let friends watch movies and TV shows together, and chat at the same time. How is this different from watching Netflix and chatting with friends using another app? Basically the extension will sync what you are watching with your friends, meaning that you and your friends will be watching the same scene at exactly the same time, as if you were in the cinemas together or in your living room watching it on the same TV.

The group chat function will also let users chat with each other as the show progresses, kind of like YouTube’s Premiere feature. It also helps to prevent spoilers for those who might have watched several minutes ahead of you. This is a free extension, although the downside is that it seems to only be available for Chrome.

So if you’re using another browser like Firefox, then you’d be out of luck. If you’re interested in checking it out, then head on over to its website for more details on how to install it.

Adobe Is Giving Everyone Free Two Months Of Creative Cloud

With more people starting to work and study from home, it means that cloud services have become more important than ever as it allows for students and workers to work together remotely and sync their files together, as well as being able to access it from anywhere, like their home computers.

Adobe’s Creative Cloud is one of those services, and it looks like the company is now giving all of its subscribers a free two months. It will require that users have a Creative Cloud account and subscription to begin with, so basically you will be extending your subscription by an extra two months for free.

However, for some reason, Adobe has not really shown how to claim this feature. Instead, the company seems to have hidden the offer and you will need to go through some steps to claim it. First of all, you’ll need to log into your Creative Cloud account. Secondly, go to the Manage Plan section after you’ve logged in, and then request to cancel your plan.

However, don’t worry, you aren’t actually cancelling your plan. Choose the option that says “Too expensive” and hit continue, after which Adobe will then direct you to an offers page to convince you to stay. Over here, you should find the option for the free two month deal.
