You Can Now See How The iPad Pro Looks On Your Desk Using Augmented Reality

Now that Apple’s physical stores are being closed until further notice, this means that customers who want to check out the company’s products will only have images on the internet to deal with. However, if you want to check out Apple’s latest iPad Pro in-person, you can sort of do that thanks to the use of augmented reality technology.

This is because on Apple’s website, they have created a link which when viewed using a mobile phone, will allow you to see what the new iPad Pro looks like sitting on your desk. Note that you will need to use an iPhone or an iPad to view the augmented reality link, since it will require the use of the rear-facing cameras to help judge the size and scale of the tablet.

In a way it’s kind of coincidental that Apple is using augmented reality to help market the new tablet. This is because, for those who missed the tablet’s announcement, the new iPad Pro models come with a new LiDAR scanner which is said to help improve on the accuracy of augmented reality technology.

There have also been rumors suggesting that Apple could actually be introducing similar tech to the 2020 iPhone, and this only seems to fuel those rumors.

HTC Just Hosted Is Vive Ecosystem Conference In Virtual Reality

As events around the world are starting to get cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak, companies are starting to find alternative means of delivering news and updates to their customers. The vast majority of it will probably come in the form of an online event, but HTC might have taken the cake.

The company was scheduled to host its Vive Ecosystem Conference in Shenzhen, China, but instead of doing that, they opted to host it virtually. The event was hosted inside Engage, which is a collaborative VR app that works with multiple VR platforms such as the HTC Vive, Oculus, Valve, and Microsoft’s Windows Mixed Reality headsets.

Those in attendance were represented by 3D avatars and were seated in an “outdoor” amphitheater with concrete benches. For some reason, HTC also decided to introduce the coronavirus into its VR event, where there were virus-shaped balloons. HTC’s China president Alvin Graylin was quoted as saying, “These viruses aren’t going to hurt you, because we’ve prepared. All of you guys have been now issued special protective gear.”

As he said that, the entire audience was covered in protective outfits, although given that all of this was virtual, it was completely unnecessary. While what HTC has done seems novel, it does go to show a possibility of the future and how events moving forwards can be held.

Amazon Prime Pantry Is Temporarily Closing

Due to the call for social distancing, where people are advised to stay home in order to prevent the coronavirus from spreading more and taxing hospitals, more people are turning to online shopping. However, it seems that too many people are buying things online, which has forced Amazon to temporarily suspend its Prime Pantry service.

According to an Amazon spokesperson, they told CNBC, “Amazon Pantry is not accepting new orders at this time while we work to fulfill open orders and restock items following increased demand. We are working hard to make these products available again and will update customers once we can take new orders.”

There was no mention of when Prime Pantry will be reopening again, but given how immense the backlog must be in order to force the company to temporarily suspend its operations, maybe don’t get your hopes up just yet. In the meantime, the company has since advised customers to check out its other services, such as Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods.

In the meantime, many governments around the world are calling on people not to participate in panic-buying and hoarding, where people are buying up produce and household items in bulk. Some supermarkets around the world have also since implemented limitations in how many items customers are allowed to purchase at any given time.
