Apple Not Only Fixed the New MacBook Air's Keyboard, It Also Made the Laptop Easier To Repair

It was long assumed that one of the big sacrifices to making a laptop as thin as the MacBook Air was severely diminishing its repairability. Building Brick Waffle Maker: LEGGO My LEGO

Of the many things I’ve enjoyed in my life, LEGO bricks and belgian waffles are pretty high on the list. So I was pretty stoked when I saw this waffle maker that lets you combine these two passions of mine into one.

The Building Brick Waffle Maker works just like any other waffle iron, except this one cranks out stackable blocks that you can build things with. It makes three different sizes of building bricks: 1×1, 1×2, and 1×4, and they have cutouts on their bottoms so they interlock just like LEGO.

You can make all kinds of edible sculptures with your waffle bricks, from small waffle houses, to giant waffle mansions. Your only constraint is your imagination – and your bowl of batter. Of course, I prefer to eat my waffles while they’re piping hot, so I don’t know if I’d get very far before I started to dig into my constructions.

The guys behind the project are making matching plates which serve as a base for stacking waffle bricks, and also have a couple of little side trays for dipping syrup or butter. While they’re not essential for building, they make a nice accessory.

You can pre-order the Building Brick Waffle Maker over on Kickstarter now. They’ve already met their funding goal, so that’s great news. Prices start at just $50 for the waffle iron itself, and start at $75 for a bundle with two baseplates for building. They hope to start shipping as soon as August 2020.

Analyst Believes iPhone 12 Could Still Be On Track For 2020

According to an earlier report, it was suggested that Apple could actually delay the launch of the iPhone 12. The report claims that Apple is mulling delaying the iPhone by an additional few months, potentially pushing it into 2021. This is because the company is worried that in the current coronavirus crisis, there could be a weak demand for its upcoming handset.

However, according to analyst Gene Munster of Loup Ventures, he believes that Apple is apparently still on track for a 2020 launch of the iPhone 12. He acknowledges that while there might be a “muted” initial demand for the smartphone, he does not believe that this will force Apple to delay the handset’s release.

According to Munster, “In the midst of 5G iPhone delay rumors, it’s important to keep in mind that Apple plans its business in terms of decades, not years – an under-appreciated long-term competitive advantage. At the core of this advantage is the company’s balance sheet, which allows it to survive the unexpected; everything from COVID-19, to a financial crisis, or weak initial demand for a new iPhone.”

That being said, there have been rumors that suggests that the iPhone 12 could be delayed. While the latest report suggests that the delay could be Apple’s decision, previous reports claimed that due to the travel ban imposed as a result of the virus outbreak, Apple is unable to properly test the iPhone 12’s 5G capabilities, thus leading to potential delays.

Apple Could Bring Face ID To Future MacBooks And iMacs

While Touch ID has been used in Apple’s iPhones and iPads for several years, it took Apple a while before the feature was brought over to its MacBooks. Apple later switched to Face ID, so we imagine that it wouldn’t be entirely out of the question for the company to introduce a similar feature to its computers as well.

Turns out that this is something that Apple is eyeing, or at least that’s what a patent seems to suggest. According to the patent, discovered by AppleInsider, it seems that Apple is exploring the idea of putting Face ID into its computers, like the MacBook laptops and its iMac desktop computers.

According to the patent’s description, Apple talks about how our computers contain sensitive information, and to protect this information from unauthorized users, security measures should be put into place. The patent doesn’t explicitly mention face recognition, but it does talk about a system that can detect patterns based on an emitted light that is reflected off an object, like the user.

Whether or not this patent becomes a reality remains to be seen, but given that Apple’s MacBooks and iMacs come with built-in webcams, it wouldn’t be that much of a stretch to think that they could incorporate Face ID sensors into their computers in the future.
