Wild Rumor Claims Apple Might Skip USB-C And Go For A Completely Portless iPhone

Ever since Apple introduced the iPad Pro with USB-C, many have been wondering when the company could bring USB-C to the iPhone. It makes a lot of sense for them to do that, especially since USB-C is now being used by more devices around the world, plus Apple’s MacBooks have ditched legacy ports in favor of USB-C.

Basically, all signs point towards this being the next logical step. However, a tweet by FrontPageTech’s Jon Prosser has dashed our hopes of seeing a USB-C iPhone. According to Prosser, Apple will not be bringing USB-C to its iPhones. Instead, Apple will apparently choose to ditch all ports and go completely wireless.

Prosser’s tweet might sound rather outlandish, but we should point out that back in 2019, notable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had stated that in 2021, Apple could be launching a completely wireless iPhone. This means that Apple will not only ditch the Lightning port, but will skip using USB-C entirely. Instead, the device will presumably rely on wireless charging.

It sounds like a bold move, although we imagine that it could be rather inconvenient. This means that iPhone users who need to charge on the go will need to bring around a wireless charger and look for wall outlets instead of just using a battery pack. Needless to say that you should probably take this with a grain of salt, but if you were hoping for a USB-C iPhone, you could be disappointed.

New Yorkers Can Now Get Married Online Through Video Conferencing

The coronavirus pandemic does not look like it will be going away anytime soon. As such, many events are being postponed or cancelled. That being said, while it might not necessarily be the best time to get married, if you absolutely have to and you live in New York, you might be interested in this recent development.

In a tweet by New York’s governor, Andrew Cuomo, he has announced that he will be issuing an Executive Order in which New Yorkers who want to get married can do so virtually. This will be done through a video conferencing call where couples will be able to obtain a marriage license remotely and also allow clerks to conduct the marriage ceremonies via a video call.

Some of the comments have questioned whether or not now might be a good time to get married, but marriage is a happy thing so why not? Also, being legally married and having a wedding dinner are completely separate events, so you could always get registered and married first, and once this crisis is over, you can go ahead and throw a wedding party.

In fact not too long ago, a couple who was supposed to get married but had the event cancelled due to the virus outbreak actually went ahead and hosted their wedding virtually in Nintendo’s recently-released Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

Leaked CAD Shows Us What The iPhone 12 Could Look Like

According to the rumors, Apple’s iPhone for 2020 is said to be adopting a brand new design and a departure from the curved edges we’ve seen in the past. Instead, Apple is rumored to be revisiting an older and classic design, one that many iPhone users can probably agree was one of the best-designed iPhones: the iPhone 4.

Now thanks to a series of renders published in a video by EverythingApplePro, we might have a better idea of what the phone could look like. These renders are said to be based on leaked CAD files of the iPhone 12, where it shows off the phone’s flat sides that are reminiscent of the iPhone 4, 4S, 5, and 5s.

That being said, it’s not the first time Apple has revisited this design. In fact, with the updated iPad Pro introduced several years ago, Apple actually adopted this flat-edged design, so it looks like it could finally be coming to the iPhone (again). We have to say that if these renders are accurate, the end product could be rather beautiful to look at.

The camera bump on the back looks like it’s here to stay, and we have heard that at least for one or two of the models, it could even come with a LiDAR scanner found in 2020’s iPad Pro refresh. Needless to say that this should be taken with a grain of salt for now, but in the meantime what do you think? Is this an iPhone you’d love to get your hands on?
