OnePlus Will Let You Unbox The OnePlus 8 Using Augmented Reality

Thinking about getting your hands on the recently announced OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro? We know that some of you can’t wait to get the device and unbox it for yourself, but the good news is that if you’re stuck at home waiting for it to arrive, or if you’re simply curious, you can actually go ahead and use augmented reality to unbox the phone.

In a post made on the OnePlus forums, OnePlus has revealed that users can now experience unboxing the phone for themselves by using AR. According to the post, “We’re using simple AR tech to bring a virtual experience of our new products to the community. We’re launching two AR filters on our Instagram channels. One for the OnePlus 8 and the other for the 8 Pro. These filters are a sweet setup to help you virtually unbox the OnePlus 8 Series at any place and at any time.”

However, it seems that the company is doing more than just allowing users to unbox the device virtually. They have also announced that they will be looking to host a contest in which by using their unboxing filters, those who come up with the most creative solutions can actually stand a chance to win the device of themselves, although this contest seems to be only available to those living in India.

That being said, OnePlus is not the first to use AR to showcase their devices. When Apple launched the 2020 iPad Pro, they also introduced a new feature that let users display the tablet on their tables by using AR technology as well.

LEGO Joins The Fight Against The Coronavirus By Producing 13,000 Face Visors A Day

LEGO is a company known for their plastic brick toys that have destroyed countless feet over the decades. However, in recent times, it seems that the company is stepping up and joining the fight against the coronavirus by leveraging their production lines and producing as many as 13,000 face visors a day.

For those unfamiliar, those working on the frontline like doctors and nurses are required to wear more extreme forms of protective gear compared to just the gloves and face masks that the rest of us wear. This is because if the doctors and nurses fall sick, then who would be left to treat the rest of us?

According to LEGO, “This week we began to make visors at our factory in Billund for healthcare workers on the frontline in Denmark. We are so incredibly proud of the team who made this happen. They worked around the clock to create designs and make moulds that can produce more than 13,000 visors a day. We are grateful to have such talented, dedicated and caring colleagues.”

LEGO is not alone in their efforts to fight the coronavirus. Many other companies have stepped up to the plate, such as Ford, GM, Razer, Apple, and more, all of whom are now using their production facilities and capabilities to produce protective equipment designed to keep frontliners safe.

Refreshed Powerbeats Pro Spotted At The FCC

Last year, Apple announced the Powerbeats Pro earphones. These are a pair of wireless earbuds that are designed more for active users who prefer having a more secure fit and also water-resistant capabilities, but at the same time want something completely wireless. This were features not offered by the AirPods or the AirPods Pro.

Unsurprisingly, the earphones proved to be pretty popular where they were difficult to get ahold off at launch. That being said, if you’re looking for a new model, you might be in luck because it appears that Apple could be working on a successor, or at least that’s what it seems to be suggested in a recent sighting at the FCC.

According to a report from Cult of Mac, they stumbled across what appears to be the successor to 2019’s Powerbeats Pro at the FCC. Unfortunately, details about the new model is scarce, but it seems to be largely similar in terms of design to its predecessor. We’re not sure what kind of changes Apple has made under the hood, but if you were hoping for a new design, you might be disappointed.

That being said, it is possible that the updated model could borrow a feature from the AirPods Pro, which is active noise-cancellation, a feature that was not present in last year’s model. Apart from that, we’re not sure what else Apple could change. Take this filing with a grain of salt, but hopefully we’ll have more details in the near future.
