But on one topic at least they are perfectly in sync: The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) should…

This Husband And Wife Team Figured Out How To Safely Decontaminate And Reuse N95 Masks

Surgical masks are typically meant to be worn once and thrown away. Even when worn, they are usually recommended to be worn for a few hours. This wasn’t an issue if we were to rewind the clock back to 2019, where protective masks were plentiful, but with the coronavirus outbreak, these masks have become a scarce commodity.

They are also extremely crucial, especially for frontliners like doctors and nurses who have to see and treat sick patients daily, but thanks to a dinner conversation between a husband and wife, Kevin and Laurie Hommemathey, have figured out a way to safely decontaminate N95 masks which in turn allows them to be reused again.

Kevin is an engineer while Laurie is a family physician, and during their conversation, they both took their individual skills and knowledge and created a system that would allow these masks to be decontaminated. This is done by using concentrated hydrogen peroxide vapor inside of a chamber, where the masks are decontaminated after about 2.5 hours.

By running this system 24/7, it was capable of processing as many as 80,000 N95 masks per day. In fact, this process can be repeated with the same mask where they estimated that it can be decontaminated about 20 times without it degrading. To that end, the Pentagon has since announced that they will be awarding a $415 million contract to Battelle, the company that Kevin works for, to create the systems.

This isn’t the first time we’re hearing about the possibility of reusing masks. Previously, Taiwan’s FDA published a video which showed how those at home can reuse their masks by sanitizing them using a rice cooker.

Potential New Nintendo Switch With Secondary Display Hinted At In Firmware Update

With the launch of the Nintendo Switch and the Switch Lite, it seemed as though Nintendo was looking to kill off its 3DS handheld lineup. The company had insisted back then that they still plan on keeping the 3DS around, but it looks like new evidence has emerged that suggests that Nintendo could be one step closer to killing off the 3DS.

According to a discovery within the latest Nintendo Switch 10.0.0 firmware, it seems that there are signs that a new Switch model could be in the works, one that comes with a secondary display. One of the unique features of the 3DS is its secondary display, and if this discovery is accurate, Nintendo could be planning for something similar in a new Switch model that would give the company a reason to discontinue the 3DS console.

Before you get too excited, note that Nintendo had earlier this year shot down the rumors that they would be launching a new Switch console this year. While that statement might still be true, it doesn’t mean that the company isn’t working on a new model that could debut next year. With Sony and Microsoft working on their next-gen consoles, we’re sure that Nintendo probably doesn’t want to fall too far behind.

In any case, take it with a grain of salt for now, but this sounds like a pretty awesome idea that we’ll definitely be keeping our ears peeled for.

Apple’s New iPhone SE Is Here And It Only Costs $399

It has been rumored for a while now that Apple has a new iPhone SE model in the works. The handset was originally rumored to be announced at Apple’s end of March event, but with the event supposedly having been cancelled due to the coronavirus, many have been wondering about its status.

Wonder no more because Apple has since officially announced the handset in question, where instead of being known as the iPhone SE 2 or the iPhone 9, Apple has instead decided to call it the new iPhone SE. As per the rumors, it seems that the handset is adopting the iPhone 8’s design, where it sports curved edges which offers a more modern look compared to the original iPhone SE.

The new iPhone SE will come with a 4.7-inch Retina HD display and will sport Touch ID. While it has been designed to be an affordable handset, Apple is definitely not crippling its performance. Under the hood, the new iPhone SE will be powered by the A13 Bionic chipset, the same chipset used in last year’s flagship iPhones.

The use of the A13 chipset also means that despite the new iPhone SE sporting a single camera setup, it is still capable of achieving the bokeh blur in its Portrait mode, similar to how the iPhone XR did back in 2018. The phone comes with a 12MP f/1.8 camera and also comes with features like Smart HDR, 4K video at 60 fps, and even QuickTake video which allows video recording even while in Photo mode.

The new iPhone SE will be priced starting at $399 and will be available for pre-order on the 17th of April with a release set for the 24th of April.
