Apple’s AirPower Could Use A11 Chipset To Address Overheating Issues

Last year, much to everyone’s disappointment, Apple officially announced that their AirPower wireless charging mat will no longer be happening. The company did not dive into details about the reasons why, but leading up to the announcement, there were reports that Apple was having technical issues with it due to the device overheating.

However, according to a tweet by Jon Prosser of Front Page Tech, he claims that there is a chance that Apple could be working on a fix by introducing the use of the A11 chipset to manage the device’s heat. Prosser claims that Apple engineers have been receiving a prototype of a device called “C68” and are being asked to develop software communication between devices that will use the A11 chipset to “dynamically manage heat”,

While the AirPower was not explicitly mentioned, Prosser attached an image in his tweet that seems to show a very blurry image of what looks like the AirPower. According to Prosser, one of the reasons why the mat would overheat is because the Apple Watch uses a different charging system compared to the iPhone, and when placed together with an iPhone, that’s when the mat would overheat.

Prosser had previously tweeted that the AirPower project was not completely dead and that Apple has revived it. However, he had also noted that it does not mean that the AirPower will be relaunching, but rather it seems that Apple has not completely given up on it yet.

Man Panics And Accidentally Ejects Himself From A Fighter Jet At 2,500 Feet In The Air

Flying in a fighter jet might be the dream thrill adventure of a lifetime for some, but for others, it can be a harrowing experience. Take for example a 64-year old man who, for a company outing, was surprised by his colleagues when they took him to the Saint-Dizier air base in France for a ride in the Dassault Rafale B fighter jet.

For whatever reason, his colleagues thought that this was something that the man had wished to do, despite him not having expressed his desire to take a joyride in a fighter jet. However, perhaps deciding to go along with it since he was already there, the man hopped into the plane. Unfortunately, it seems that his nerves got the better of him because at around 2,500 feet, he started to panic and looked for something to grab hold off, which turned out to be the ejector seat button.

This resulted in the man being ejected from the plane while it was 2,500 feet in the air. To make matters worse, the man’s helmet was not securely fastened as it flew off while he was ejected. Thankfully though, no one was injured. The man safely landed in a field near the German border, while the pilot sustained minor facial injuries and managed to land the plane.

Authorities later concluded that the error was due to an involuntary reflex on the 64-year old’s part. While this could have ended tragically, thankfully it did not and the man can at least walk away with a scary, but hilarious story that he can tell for years on end.

2020’s iPhones Might Adopt The iPad Pro’s Design

Over the past few generations, Apple’s iPhone hasn’t really seen that much of a change in design, save for larger screen options, color options, and the camera bump. However, this year is set to change that. According to a report from Bloomberg, they are claiming that this year’s iPhones could adopt the iPad Pro’s design.

What does this mean? For those unfamiliar, the iPad Pro sports a design which features flat sides along the edges of the tablet. The iPhone, on the other hand, comes with rounded edges, but if the report is accurate, this year’s iPhones could adopt that flat edge design. Interestingly enough, this is not the first time we’re hearing about this redesign.

Last year, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that the 2020 iPhones could be adopting the iPhone 4’s design, which also features flat edges along the sides of the phone. This new report from Bloomberg seems to confirm and corroborate those claims, where they are claiming that Apple will also be utilizing stainless steel for the edges of the phone.

The report adds that there will also be an option for a larger display, where it could be bigger than the current iPhone 11 Pro Max which sports a 6.5-inch screen. Once again, this corroborates an earlier report which suggested that the top-of-the-line model could come with a 6.7-inch display. Take this with a grain of salt for now, but Apple should be announcing the details later in the year, assuming that they are keeping to schedule.

WHO Says There Are 70 Potential COVID-19 Vaccines In The Works

The race is currently on to find a cure or vaccine for the COVID-19 virus. Given that there is no known cure at the moment, even if governments were to ease up on restrictions or to allow people to go back to work and for businesses to resume, there is still a chance that the virus could re-emerge and infect the population again.

However, there is some good news because researchers around the world are hard at work at trying to find a vaccine for the virus. According to the WHO, they have revealed that currently, there are about 70 vaccines for the virus that are being developed, and out of them, 3 of them are said to be showing very promising signs.

The furthest along in development in the clinical process is by a company called CanSino Biology together with the Beijing Institute of Biotechnology. Then there are also vaccines developed by Moderna and Inovio. While it might be a while before these vaccines are ready for the general public, the speed at which they are being developed and sent for trials is said to be at breakneck speeds and are unprecedented.

Right now since there is no known cure, a vaccine is probably the next best thing to help prevent the rest of the world from contracting the virus. When exactly these vaccines will be ready remains to be seen, but it’s comforting to know that there are many in development.
