LG Velvet Specs Revealed Ahead Of Its Official Announcement

A couple of weeks ago, LG revealed the “Velvet” smartphone which showed off the company’s new design language. The handset is expected to be announced next week, but in true LG style, it seems that the company has revealed the specs of the phone in full ahead of the official announcement.

According to LG, the upcoming Velvet smartphone will come with a 6.8-inch 20.5:9 OLED display, a set of stereo speakers that will be powered by AI that will help control the volume and optimize the sound. The phone will also sport curved sides that LG claims will make the phone easier and more comfortable to hold.

As for the camera, LG will be adopting a “raindrop” design which sports a 48MP main lens, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 5MP depth sensor. On the front, the phone will come with a 16MP shooter. That being said, for a brand new smartphone, the LG Velvet will not be a high-end handset. Instead, under the hood LG has opted to equip the handset with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 chipset, but the good news is that LG has chosen the 5G version which means that despite it being a mid-range, it will come with support for 5G.

There is no word on pricing yet, but the phone is expected to be initially released in South Korea on the 15th of May.

Ford To Delay The Launch Of Its Self-Driving Taxis To 2022

As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, companies who have had plans for 2020 to launch new products or services have no doubt had to put them on the backburner. For example, we’ve seen how several major events being cancelled, and there are also rumors that products like the iPhone could be delayed.

Now it looks like Ford’s plans to launch its self-driving taxis will also be delayed, where according to a report from TechCrunch, the company will be delaying the launch until 2022. This was revealed during Ford’s quarterly earnings where the company also reported a $2 billion loss in the first quarter of the year, versus a $1.1 billion profit from the same period a year before.

According to Ford, “Given the challenges of the current business environment, as well as the need to evaluate the long-term impact of COVID-19 on customer behaviors, Ford made the decision to shift the launch of its self-driving services to 2022. Understanding customer behavior is a critically important part of building a new mobility service built around trust and making people’s lives easier.”

What’s interesting is that we imagine that self-driving vehicles are actually perfect in this crisis. This is because with social distancing measures being put into place, using a self-driving taxi to get around might be safer compared to a regular taxi driven by a human.

Simple Hack Gives Logitech’s Circle 2 Battery Cameras HomeKit Compatibility

From time to time, we see companies release new and updated products that come with support for smart home platforms like Apple’s HomeKit. While this is good for new customers, it isn’t as good for existing customers who might need to fork out extra cash just to get the connectivity.

The good news is that if you own the Logitech Circle 2 wireless model and want to give it HomeKit compatibility, you’re in luck because all it will cost you is a small strip of electric tape. Now, for those unfamiliar, the Circle 2 camera comes in two models: a wired model and wireless model that relies on a battery. The wired model has support for HomeKit, but the wireless model does not, despite them essentially being the same device.

However, a video posted onto YouTube by Rey G is showing that by taping over the pins of the wireless Circle 2 camera, it tricks it into thinking that it is connected to the wired mount, which then allows the software on it to work with HomeKit. This “hack” was discovered after a Logitech service rep revealed that the wireless version of the Circle 2 could be made HomeKit compatible by placing it into the wired mount.

But for those who do not have the mount, then this electric tape hack seems to do the trick. However, it has been pointed out that the battery life of the device when connected to HomeKit is extremely bad, so you might find yourself having to recharge it more often than you would like, but it is a cheap hack that will work in a pinch.
