It has become a tradition for some manufacturers (except Samsung and Apple it seems) to get some benchmarking sites to help hype up a product with their reviews. Often, however, these reviews come after the product gets announced though are definitely some that publish their super early thoughts on Day Zero. DisplayMate is once again bucking that trend by announcing … Continue reading

Jared Kushner Shows Up At Coronavirus Briefing To Claim Supply Chain Success

Last year, the folks at Naughty Dog announced that they would be delaying the release of their highly-anticipated The Last of Us 2 to 2020. The date was originally set for the end of May 2020, but it looks like that will no longer be happening. In a tweet by the developers, they have announced that the game has since been indefinitely delayed.
According to Naughty Dog, it seems that due to the entire world being affected by the coronavirus, which has impacted logistics, it means that not everyone will be able to play the game at the same time, and this is something the developers are trying to avoid. “We want to make sure everyone gets to play The Last of Us Part II around the same time, ensuring everything that we’re doing everything possible to preserve the best experience for everyone. This meant delaying the game until such a time where we can solve these logistic issues.”

Given that there is currently no timeframe as to when life as we know it will get back to normal, Naughty Dog has not provided a new release date, which essentially means that the game has been delayed indefinitely. The company is hoping that the delay won’t be too long, but like we said, it is anyone’s guess as to how long this crisis will last and when it will be safe for businesses to resume operations.
Right now, there is currently no known cure or treatment for the COVID-19 virus. Vaccines are being developed and tested but releasing it to the general public will most likely only take place in 2021 at the earliest.

For a while now, we have been hearing rumors that Apple could be working on a new accessory that will be a competitor to Tile known as the AirTags. Whether or not that is true still remains to be seen, but there have been enough evidence that lends credibility to those claims, with the latest piece of evidence coming from Apple themselves.
The company recently posted a new video on its Apple Support YouTube channel where Appleosophy discovered that within that video, Apple actually referenced the rumored device. The video has since been taken down, but not before a screenshot (see above) was captured and preserved for evidence.
The video in question was related to how to erase your iPhone, which is useful in the event that you have lost your iPhone and are trying to erase its contents remotely, lest it falls into the hands of someone else. Like we said, this is not the first time that we have come across evidence of the AirTag’s existence.
Previously, there were similar references made in the code of iOS 13, indicating that Apple is indeed working on such an accessory. There is currently no word on when it will be launched, but last we heard, it was rumored for the summer of 2020.

Apple Could Be Working On An iPhone That Is Completely Waterproof And Usable Underwater
Posted in: Today's ChiliIn recent years, Apple finally hopped on board the bandwagon and made its iPhones water-resistant. The company’s iPhones currently have a rating of IP68 which makes it water-resistant where it can survive underwater of depths up to 2 meters for as long as 30 minutes (although we have heard stories of it surviving for much longer).
However, while we have seen people use their iPhones for underwater photography, it is generally not advised. Its water-resistance is meant to protect the phone from accidental drops and not necessarily for such activities, but according to a recently-discovered patent, that’s something that Apple wants to change.
According to the patent, it seems that Apple is exploring (or has explored) the idea of a fully waterproof iPhone. The concept of fully waterproofing a device isn’t new, but the patent takes it one step further by describing a potential user interface that can be activated whilst underwater. In the patent, Apple describes the “problem” of displaying user interfaces while underwater, and the patent has offered up a potential solution.
In the description of the patent, “There is a need for electronic devices that provide efficient methods and interfaces for accessing underwater user interfaces displayed on the electronic devices. Such techniques can reduce the cognitive burden on a user who accesses user interfaces while the electronic device is under water, thereby enhancing productivity. Further, such techniques can reduce processor and battery power otherwise wasted on redundant user inputs.”
Whether or not Apple actually goes through with this remains to be seen, especially since patents don’t always guarantee that they become a reality, but it is an interesting idea nonetheless.

Gamevice Wants To Block Nintendo Switch Sales In New Patent Infringement Lawsuit
Posted in: Today's ChiliWhen Nintendo first revealed that they were working on a new console which eventually launched as the Switch, the company was understandably cautious and guarded with the design as they did not want to give away its secrets ahead of the launch. When the Switch was eventually released, many lauded its uniqueness.
However, the idea of detachable controllers aren’t new, which is why Gamevice filed a lawsuit against Nintendo. That lawsuit was eventually ruled in Nintendo’s favor back in March 2020, but it seems that Gamevice isn’t giving up yet and has since filed a new lawsuit while appealing its previous one, and in the process they’re trying to stop the Switch from being imported and sold in the US.
According to this new lawsuit, Gamevice claims that they were awarded a patent for a game controller back in August that they allege Nintendo has infringed upon. If you’re unfamiliar, the photo above shows Gamevice’s controller which was designed for smartphones. It attaches controllers to either side of your smartphone, thus making it easier for you to play your games on.
We have to admit that the concept does seem similar to the Nintendo Switch, although presumably Nintendo’s lawyers and the judge that ruled over the case probably felt differently. Whether or not Nintendo will be successful in defending this new lawsuit remains to be seen, but either way it looks like their legal woes aren’t over year.

Zoom’s explosion in popularity has put the company under a microscope, where it was discovered that there were certain practices made by the company that were a bit concerning. One of which involved the way they approached the installer for the macOS version of the app, which was discovered to be a bit shady.
For those unfamiliar, basically the way Zoom’s installer on macOS works is done in a similar vein to how malware on macOS is installed. The installation process is done without users providing the final step of consent. According to Zoom’s CEO, this was done to help simplify the process to make the installation a breeze.
However, the good news for those who might feel a bit uncomfortable with these shortcuts is that it appears that Zoom has since updated its macOS installer to remove that malware-like exploit.
Speaking to The Verge, software engineer Felix Seele, who made the initial discovery, said, “They completely removed the preinstall stuff, so you now need to click through the installer as it ought to be. I must say that I am impressed. I expected them to maybe change the dialog, but since the ‘zero-click’ aspect was so important to them, I thought they would stick with the preinstall-trick.”
Zoom has recently pledged that over the course of the next 90 days, they will be hitting pause on feature updates while working towards improving on its software’s privacy and security.

Amazon’s Twitch platform has been a largely one-sided affair. This means that streamers stream their games and its viewers watch, where leaving comments and messages is pretty much the only interaction that streamers and viewers get to have with each other, but that is expected to change soon.
In a report from the New York Times, Twitch has announced that they are working on developing their own games in which both streamers and viewers will be able to participate in it together. This means that viewers will soon be able to interact with their favorite streamers in a more dynamic way.
It is unclear how this will work and what kind of games we might be able to expect (the report mentions casual games), but Twitch’s efforts are expected to be launched in the summer, so we should have more details then. It’s not surprising that Twitch is coming up with new ways to keep its streamers and viewers interested and a reason to keep using its platform.
Ever since Twitch launched, there have been efforts by the likes of Microsoft and YouTube to create their own rival services like Mixer and YouTube Gaming respectively. Microsoft has been seeing some success with its platform by luring away a couple of Twitch’s biggest streamers, such as Ninja (who streams Fornite).
