Meet the New Suunto 7: Blurring the Lines Between Fashion, Function, and Fitness
Posted in: Today's ChiliIf you’re Jeff Bezos, you have the cash to buy yourself eleventy billion watches that serve a myriad of purposes in your life. But since most of us aren’t Bezos and are lucky to snag one fancy GPS watch for the rest of our days, let’s talk about the Suunto 7, the newest addition to the Finnish brand’s lineup.
Apple’s weather app for iOS does a pretty decent job at doing what it’s supposed to do, which is to provide weather information as well as predictions for the week. It’s not a fancy app but if you just want to check the current temperature and weather for the rest of the day and week, it gets the job done.
However, for those who want additional information and more powerful weather tracking tools, Dark Sky is a pretty popular alternative. The good news that in an attempt to improve on its own weather app, Apple has acquired the Dark Sky weather app. The bad news is that following the acquisition, in true Apple fashion, they will also be killing off the app for Android users.
According to an official post on the Dark Sky blog, the developers write, “The app will no longer be available for download. Service to existing users and subscribers will continue until July 1, 2020, at which point the app will be shut down. Subscribers who are still active at that time will receive a refund.”
Note that Apple is only killing it off for Android and Wear OS users, and that for iOS users, there will be no changes made at this time. Apple has had a history of making acquisitions and then killing those services or apps off while they integrate it into their own platform. For now, iOS users won’t see any changes, but perhaps eventually we’ll see Dark Sky folded into iOS.

With Zoom seeing a sudden surge in popularity due to the coronavirus outbreak which has forced thousands to work and study from home, the app is also under new scrutiny where a recent discovery revealed that the app was secretly sending data to Facebook. Zoom later removed the offending code, and have since updated its privacy policy.
In a post made on its website, Zoom’s Chief Legal Officer Aparna Bawa reassured users that the company is not selling user data. Bawa notes that the changes to the privacy policy only applies to the language that they use, and that nothing has changed. The update was made so that the company’s privacy policy is now clearer and easier to understand for its users.
Zoom emphatically says, “We do not sell your personal data. Whether you are a business or a school or an individual user, we do not sell your data.” They also note, “We do not use data we obtain from your use of our services, including your meetings, for any advertising. We do use data we obtain from you when you visit our marketing websites, such as zoom.us and zoom.com. You have control over your own cookie settings when visiting our marketing websites.”
The company adds that all meetings held in Zoom are not monitored by them, nor are they kept by Zoom unless users choose to store it in the company’s cloud, but even then, there are systems in place to prevent unauthorized access.

For a while now we have been hearing rumors that Apple plans on reviving the iPhone SE series with a successor, which has also been rumored to be called the iPhone 9. The handset in question was originally supposed to be launched at Apple’s rumored event held at the end of March, but due to the coronavirus outbreak, the event was supposedly cancelled.
This does leave us with questions as to when the phone will be launched, but it turns out it could be soon. According to a photo obtained by MacRumors, it seems that Best Buy has started to receive shipments for cases designed for the iPhone 9. As you can see in the photo, at the bottom of the packaging, it says that it is for the new 4.7-inch iPhone 2020 model, which presumably refers to the iPhone 9.
Interestingly enough, the packaging does not explicitly mention the iPhone’s model name, so as it stands, no one really knows for sure if the upcoming handset will be known as the iPhone SE 2 or the iPhone 9. The arrival of the cases also seems to suggest that Apple could be close to officially announcing the handset.
Given that there was no launch event, it’s really anyone’s guess as to when the phone will be announced, but perhaps it could be soon, so do check back with us in the coming days or weeks for more details.
