Motorola seems to be bent on launching as many phones as it can this year but the real highlight of its new lineup so far is undoubtedly the Razr. You can argue about its practicality and price but it’s hard to deny how huge it was in terms of design and even execution. Unsurprisingly, Motorola is reportedly already working on … Continue reading
SpaceX is about to make history on Wednesday but Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Orbit was out to remind people it isn’t the only game in town. It almost made a first, at least for the company, when it ignited and launched a rocket in the air. And while that didn’t exactly end well, the company is actually looking forward to … Continue reading

World Health Organization Halts Trials of Trump's 'Miracle' Covid-19 Drug, Citing Safety Concerns
Posted in: Today's ChiliThe World Health Organization (WHO) is temporarily suspending clinical trials of hydroxychloroquine as an experimental coronavirus treatment amid mounting safety concerns. Surprising no one, it appears the antimalarial drug might not be the “miracle” covid-19 treatment that President Donald Trump has hyped it up to be.
According to a recent rumor, it was suggested that Apple could launch a completely portless iPhone in the future. However, it seems that the launch of such a device will only come in 2021 because in a tweet by leakster @choco_bit, the tweet claims that Apple is expected to continue to stick with the Lightning port for 2020’s iPhones.
The tweet also goes on to claim that Apple will be using a smart connector for 2021’s iPhones. This is interesting as the smart connector is a feature that Apple first introduced to its iPad Pro lineup a few years ago. It was not meant to charge devices, but rather it was used to connect accessories like the Smart and Magic Keyboard.
By going completely portless, it would appear that Apple seems to be putting a lot of faith into wireless charging, which has improved over the years, but it still requires a charging mat. While this might be more convenient than plugging in a device, there are of course disadvantages to it, where if you take your phone off the mat to check on it, it stops charging.
Shame the USB-c prototype iPhone 12’s arent making it to production. 1 more year of lightning 🥳😭
Oh well, at least smart connector on 13 series

Plus, wireless charging speeds still aren’t quite as fast compared to wired charging, especially with all the fast-charging solutions out there today. In any case, it’s probably best to take this with a grain of salt for now, but if you were hoping for a completely portless iPhone, you might have to wait until 2021 at the earliest.

Firmware Update Could Allow Fujifilm Cameras To Be Turned Into Plug-And-Play Webcams
Posted in: Today's ChiliThe ability to turn your digital camera into a webcam isn’t new. Streamers have been doing it for quite a while now in order to achieve the best possible quality for their streams. However, the problem is that it isn’t always the most straightforward of solutions as sometimes it involves purchasing additional hardware and downloading third-party software.
Not too long ago, Canon released a software that made it easier for users of its cameras to turn its camera into webcams, and now it looks like Fujifilm is looking to do the same. According to a recent live stream from Fujifilm India, one of the members of the product team was asked about using Fujifilm’s cameras as a webcam, in which they responded by saying that there could be firmware in development that would make it a plug-and-play solution.
According to one of the members from the team (as transcribed by Fuji Rumors), “I can not say about it definitely, but I have heard from the developing team that we are developing something and they are soon going to release a firmware. There will be plug-and-play, and the X series camera will become like a webcam. Yes, I have heard they are working on it, but I have no confirmation at this moment. But definitely they are doing something. Something is cooking.”
It does not sound like this is an official announcement, but if true, then this is something that users can look forward to in the future. At the moment webcams are seeing an explosion in popularity due to the number of people working and studying from home and using video conferencing apps like Zoom, so if you’re looking to kick things up a notch, this is an update worth keeping an eye out for.

Headphones with built-in health monitoring features aren’t new, but it looks like Apple wants to get in on the action. This is according to a recent DigiTimes report in which they claim that Apple could potentially use ambient light sensors in a future pair of AirPods, but it stops short of actually mentioning why.
However, according to speculation, it has been suggested that maybe this could be for health reasons. As iMore points out, Apple has a patent that was discovered last year that revealed that the company was exploring the idea of incorporating health monitoring features into the AirPods, and now with this new report, it seems that using these light sensors could be how they might go about doing it.
Given that the AirPods already feature sensors that can detect when the headphones are in the wearer’s ears, Apple might use these light sensors for other features, like taking the temperature of the user or measuring their heart rate. Apple currently uses an optical sensor for the heart rate monitoring feature of the Apple Watch, so it is possible that they might want to implement something similar for the AirPods.
That being said, as interesting as this may be, we think that Apple definitely needs to address the battery life of the AirPods first. There have been multiple user reports claiming that the AirPods loses its charge pretty quickly after the first year, so if they want to turn it into a health monitoring tool, that definitely needs to be improved upon.
