Bang & Olufsen Beoplay E8 Sports Are Designed For The Gym

When it comes to headphones, there are many different types available out there, with some focusing more on audio quality, while others focus more on active use. If you’re looking for a pair designed and suited for the gym and physical activities, then you might want to take a look at Bang & Olufsen’s newly-launched Beoplay E8 Sports earphones.

These earphones are a variant of the E8 true wireless earbuds, except that in this case, the Danish company has opted to aim them more towards active users. This comes in the form of an IP57 rating which means that they’ll be able to withstand things like dust, sweat, and water, so getting them a bit wet shouldn’t pose any issues.

However, it isn’t just about making it water-resistant. The E8 Sports has also been designed to be easier to use in the event that your hands are sweaty and you need to control the media playback. This is thanks to a ridged design around the edges of the earphones that will make it easier for users to control them.

The company does not mention how much battery we can expect from the E8 Sports, but assuming it’s based on the E8, we expect that it should be able to squeeze up to 7 hours per charge, and a total of 35 hours thanks to its carrying/charging case that will provide an additional four charges. The Beoplay E8 Sport is priced at $350 and will be available for purchase on the 9th of July.

Bose Calls It Quits On Its Augmented Reality Efforts

When you think of Bose, you might think of the company that makes headphones. However, in the past couple of years, Bose has expanded on what they do and dipped their toes into augmented reality with a pair of smart glasses. Unfortunately, it seems that the company has decided not to pursue the tech any further.

In a statement made to Protocol, a Bose spokesperson was quoted as saying, “We learned a lot — mostly, that our work in AR delivered compelling customer experiences based on specific interests and specific use cases, not for broad, daily use. So, we decided to stop working on third-party developer apps and won’t be supporting them beyond mid-July.”

It’s actually interesting that Bose is looking to call it quits on AR, especially when other companies such as Apple are said to be forging ahead with their own AR solutions. The smart glasses concept is admittedly a rather hard sell, especially in this day and age where privacy seems to matter more than ever, what with us being more connected.

Bose would not be the first company to call it quits though, even larger tech firms such as Google had to pull the plug on their Google Glass wearable after it failed to gain mainstream attention.

Sonos Move Bluetooth Speaker Updated With Longer Battery Life

Sonos is known for their wireless speakers, but until last year, the company’s speakers relied on a WiFi connection for their wireless connectivity. However, like we said, back in 2019, the company took the wraps off the Sonos Move, Sonos’ first ever Bluetooth speaker, and now it looks like they have given it a bit of an upgrade in that battery department.

According to Sonos, the new Move seems to be largely unchanged compared to the previous model, but it will now be offered in a white finish (previously it was only offered in black). The updated model will also offer 11 hours of playback versus the 10 hours from the previous model, so while it isn’t exactly a huge change, we’re sure that users will probably appreciate it.

The good news is that if you already own the Sonos Move, Sonos will be bringing the upgraded battery life to existing models through a software update that will also bump it up to 11 hours, but if you don’t own it, then we guess you can always pick up this newer model to save yourself the effort of updating it.

As a quick recap, the Sonos Move will support both Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. It is also designed to be water and drop-resistant thanks to its IP56 rating. The company is also boasting that the Lunar White and Shadow Black colors are UV-resistant, meaning that you can play it outdoors without it overheating. It is priced at $399 and is expected to begin shipping at the end of the month.
