Stephen King Yearned to Write an 'Existential' Horror Novel About Friday the 13th's Jason

Watching a hockey mask-wearing killer murder dozens of campers in the Friday the 13th franchise may not scream: “We need his point of view!” But it turns out horror icon Stephen King’s “best novel idea” he never penned was the story of, you guessed it, the indescribably immortal Jason Voorhees.

Hackers Have Found A Way To Spy On Conversations Using A Light Bulb

In the past, we have heard of various attempts to spy on users through all kinds of methods, such as hijacking your computer’s webcam/microphone, smart speakers, and so on. However, it seems that hackers might have discovered a potentially new way to spy on people using nothing more than an ordinary light bulb.

According to researchers from the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel, they have found that by using an electro-optical sensor-equipped telescope, they can aim it at a light bulb in the room that the conversation is being held and in theory, listen in on private conversations.

As our voices are essentially sound waves, these waves cause all kinds of vibrations that might be invisible to the naked eye, but with the correct equipment, hackers could theoretically pickup on those vibrations caused by our voices and convert it into audio through an analog-to-digital converter.

Now it is obviously a lot more complex than what we are making it out to be, but that’s essentially the theory it is based on. That being said, it might not be quite as easy to pull off. This is because depending on the thickness of the glass of the bulb and its brightness, and assuming that nothing is in the way like a draw curtain, it might not necessarily work, but if anything it is rather ingenious.

Redesigned iMac Icon Discovered In iOS 14 Build

We have been hearing rumors that after years of sticking to the same design, Apple could finally be ready to take the wraps off a brand new iMac. The new iMac’s design is said to borrow some design elements from the iPad Pro, meaning that we could be looking at more uniform and thinner bezels.

Now thanks to a report from iFinder, it seems that within a leaked build of iOS 14, it has been discovered that Apple has redesigned the icon for the iMac. As you can see in the images embedded in the tweet below, we’re looking at a brand new computer that looks very different from the current iMac’s design, where the bezels surrounding the computer are now more uniform in design.

However, this icon seems to have rather fat/thick bezels which goes against the previous rumors, but it is possible that this could simply be due to the design of the icon itself and might not necessarily represent how the new iMac could look like in real-life. Obviously this should be taken with a grain of salt for now, but it is as close to official as we are going to get.

Apple will be hosting an online-only WWDC 2020 event later next week, so be sure to check back with us then if you’d like all the official details.

The FDA Just Approved The First Prescription Video Game For Kids With ADHD

Video games are still generally frowned upon by parents as an activity that “wastes” time and has no particular benefits. However, it seems that kids who might be suffering from ADHD could soon be turning to video games to help with their condition as the FDA has approved what appears to be the first prescription video game.

Developed by Akili Interactive, the game is called EndeavorRX and according to the company, one of the studies found that one-third of kids who played their game “no longer had a measurable attention deficit on at least one measure of objective attention”. This involved them playing the game for 25 minutes a day, five days a week, over the course of four weeks.

The FDA has actually been conducting a study over a seven-year period involving 600 children to find out whether or not playing games could make a difference in the treatment for ADHD. While games might not necessarily replace or act as an alternative to more established and traditional methods of treating ADHD, it could be worth exploring, especially for parents who aren’t too keen on turning to medication.

EndeavorRX has yet to be released, but for parents who are interested in checking it out, you can go ahead and sign up to be put on the waiting list through the company’s website.
