New iMac, Larger iPad Air And iPad Mini To Launch In Second Half Of 2020

According to the latest rumors, it has been suggested that Apple could announce a newly redesigned iMac at WWDC 2020. It turns out that Apple could potentially announce more than that, at least that’s according to a report from DigiTimes (paywall) which claims that Apple could launch a bunch of new products in the second half of 2020.

The report does not mention if these new products will be announced at the event, but presumably it would if their launch plans for the second half of the year are true. This includes the rumored newly redesigned iMac, along with a couple of new iPads, such as a larger 10.8-inch iPad Air (the current model has a 10.5-inch display), and also a larger iPad mini.

The larger iPad mini could be particularly interesting as it could potentially see Apple bump the display up to 8 or 9-inches, although we have to wonder at that size, could it really be considered a “mini” anymore? Hopefully Apple will somehow manage to keep the form factor while shrinking down the bezels, but we’ll have to wait and see.

In any case, DigiTimes has a spotty track record when it comes to Apple-related rumors, although parts of their report was previously mentioned by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, so there could be some truth there. However, it should probably be said that you should take this with a grain of salt, but check back with us in the coming weeks for more details.

Weird URL Bug Lets Users Skip YouTube Ads And Paywalls

Don’t like watching YouTube ads at the start or in between videos? It seems that thanks to a bug, you’ll actually be able to skip ads entirely. All users have to do is add an extra period at the middle of the video’s URL and it will skip the ads. It also seems to work with websites that have paywalls.

For example, if your YouTube video’s URL is “youtube.com/video”, all you need to do is insert a period at the end of the “com” so that it reads “youtube.com./video” and you’re good to go. Given that this bug is going to cost YouTube to lose revenue from ads that are being skipped, we’re sure that it is going to be patched in a matter of days, if it hasn’t already.

According to a post on Reddit by u/unicorn4sale, “It’s a commonly forgotten edge case, websites forget to normalize the hostname, the content is still served, but there’s no hostname match on the browser so no cookies and broken CORS – and lots of bigger sites use a different domain to serve ads/media with a whitelist that doesn’t contain the extra dot”

This suggests that this is an oversight and that a fix should be just as simple as the exploit, so if it doesn’t work for you the next time you try it, there’s a good chance that the website has already patched it up.

Sony Wants AI To Take Over Players Who Ragequit

We’re sure that if you’ve ever played a multiplayer game, there’s a chance that you might have come across an instance when someone gets mad and just quits the game, or they have a connection issue and drop out. This kind of ruins the experience as it sometimes means that a team loses because they’re one player short.

However, Sony thinks that they might have an idea on how to fix this. In a patent discovered on Reddit by u/WolfgangKaipZ, Sony suggests that they could replace the player that dropped out by an AI that would play in their place. Now, this isn’t exactly a new idea where computers take over when a player quits, but Sony’s patent takes it one step further.

According to the patent’s abstract, “When the first player quits or stops responding before the multiplayer game has completed, the first player is replaced by a computer-simulated version of the first player that selects its actions based on probabilities calculated from the tracked actions of the first player. The multiplayer game is thus able to continue without interruption or disruption, and the first player’s playstyle is preserved.”

This means that the AI will be smart enough to know how the player plays and will try their best to emulate them. This is opposed to simply reverting to a script or a set of steps that computer players typically use. It could also mean that in theory, this AI-replaced player could be even better as it would definitely have faster reaction times. Of course, this is only a patent so we’re not sure if Sony actually plans to implement it, but it is definitely intriguing.

These Are The PC Requirements For Death Stranding

For those who don’t own a console, you might have heard that Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding will be headed to the PC next month. This is great news, although given how beautiful the game looks, we’re sure that some gamers might be a bit concerned about whether or not their PCs will be able to handle it.

Thanks to the folks at PC Gamer, they have managed to get their hands on what appears to be the PC requirements for the upcoming game. For starters, Death Stranding will be a PC-only game, so Mac gamers will have to sit this one out for now. It will also require that gamers have at the very least an Intel Core i5-3470 chipset or an AMD Ryzen 3 1200 with 8GB of RAM and 80GB of hard drive space.

Also when it comes to the GPU, gamers will also need an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 3 GB or an AMD Radeon RX 560 with 4GB of VRAM. As for recommended specs, there are specs for running the game at 30 fps or 60 fps, both of which call for at least 8GB of RAM, while the 30 fps will require an Intel Core i5-4460 or AMD Ryzen 5 1400 CPU, and a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti  4 GB or Radeon RX 570 4 GB.

For those who want to run the game at 60 fps, the recommended CPUs are either the Intel Core i7-3770 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600, along with a GeForce GTX 1060 6 GB or AMD Radeon RX 590 GPU. Interestingly enough it seems that the requirements aren’t particularly steep so for the most part, we imagine that gamers should have no issues playing the game, Death Stranding for the PC is currently set for a release on the 14th of July, 2020.
