Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Could Ditch The Curved Display

One of the selling points of Samsung’s phones in recent years are its curved displays along the edges of the device. We’ve seen this design emulated by other handset makers, but it looks like with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 20, the company could actually be ditching the curved display.

This is according to a tweet by leakster Ice Universe who claims that the Note 20 is expected to arrive with a flat display. It is unclear if this will affect the entire Note 20 lineup, or only specific models, so we’ll have to wait and see. It’s actually interesting that they would move away from such a design, although no one really knows why.

It is possible that while the curved displays did add a unique design element, users still treated it like a regular flat display, despite some of the features designed specifically for the curved edges. It would be similar to how Apple ditched their pressure-sensitive displays after no one really picked up on it.

In any case, it’s probably best to take this with a grain of salt for now, but with the rumors suggesting that the Note 20 could be announced in August, we only have a couple of months to go before we have all the official details.

iOS 13.6 Will Let Users Turn Off Automatic Update Downloads

iOS 13 dark modeOne of the things that Apple does for its iOS updates is that it will download the update in the background. Once it’s downloaded, all users need to do is update their device. Because it is downloaded in the background, users won’t know and won’t necessarily have to wait for it to complete, making the update process easier.

However, we imagine that some users who might be pressed for storage space might not appreciate the automatic download, but the good news is that Apple will be giving users control over that in a future update. According to the latest iOS 13.6 beta, it has been discovered that Apple is introducing a new feature that lets users turn off automatic update downloads.

What this means is that if you prefer to decide when you’d like the download to happen, you can disable automatic downloads and then download update at a later time. This might be useful when you’re traveling and don’t have a particularly good connection and you’d rather not have you phone attempt to download an update, especially when some of them can be rather big in file size.

While not necessarily a game-changing feature, at the very least Apple is giving some control of iOS back to its users.

Using A Screen Protector With The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Will Void Its Warranty

Whenever we buy a new smartphone, there’s a good chance that we will also buy a screen protector at the same time. This is because while our phone’s displays are relatively durable and resistant to scratches, why take the chance, especially if the phone in question is very expensive, right?

However, it seems that if you own the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip, buying a screen protector might actually be the worst thing you could do. This is because according to SamMobile, they have heard from Samsung that using a screen protector with the Galaxy Z Flip will actually void its warranty.

According to a statement from a Samsung rep, “As outlined in the care instructions included with all Galaxy Z Flip devices, third-party adhesives such as films or stickers should not be adhered to the Galaxy Z Flip screen by customers, doing so could void the warranty.” There is probably a good reason why this is the case.

As we have seen in the past with issues surrounding the Galaxy Fold’s display, the same technology is used with the Galaxy Z Flip where its display is more delicate than a regular smartphone. By using a screen protector with an adhesive, it could potentially damage the phone’s display by pulling on it, which would be the user’s fault and thus not covered under the device’s warranty.

Given how much the Galaxy Z Flip costs, we get that you might want to protect your investment, but it seems that a screen protector is not the way to go here.
