We Might Not See iPhones With 120Hz Displays For A While

When Apple introduced 120Hz displays to the iPad Pro, many were expecting that the company would eventually introduce it to their iPhones. It was largely expected that this year could be the year, although a more recent rumor had suggested that might not be the case. Now according to the latest rumors, it seems that we probably shouldn’t expect it in 2021’s iPhones either.

According to the latest rumors, apparently Apple will not be including 120Hz displays in its iPhones for the next couple of years. The report claims that the iPhone 12 will skip on the display, as will the 2021 iPhone. It seems that the earliest we can expect to see it will be in 2022, if it even happens at all.

It is unclear why this might be the case. After all, Android handset makers have been more than willing to introduce 90Hz or 120Hz displays to their smartphones, so we’re not sure why Apple will not be doing the same. Could it be that it might be a battery issue? Or maybe Apple just doesn’t think there is a good enough reason for it.

Smartphones have kind of peaked in terms of what they can do, so handset makers are trying to find ways to keep their devices exciting and fresh, and faster refresh rates has been one of those ways. In any case, take it with a grain of salt, but we should have more details in the coming months.

Razer BlackShark V2 Gaming Headphones Announced

Back in 2012, Razer launched their BlackShark gaming headset. The company has since launched several other gaming headsets, but if you were a fan of the original and would love to see an updated model, then you might be pleased to learn that Razer has since announced the BlackShark V2.

As the name suggests, this will be the second-gen BlackShark gaming headset. There will actually be two models, the BlackShark V2 and the V2 X, with the latter being the entry-level version. Priced starting at $60 for the V2 X, it features the use of Razer’s TriForce 50mm drivers and will also feature 7.1 surround sound. There is a built-in 3.5mm jack and a HyperClear Cardioid Mic.

As for the more expensive BlackShark V2, it will also feature 50mm drivers, but these drivers will be coated with titanium that can deliver THX spatial audio. Razer is also boasting vocal clarity with these drivers. There will also be the same HyperClear microphone that can be removed. The BlackShark V2 is priced at $100.

Both the Razer BlackShark V2 and the V2 X are available starting today and can be bought from Razer’s website. Razer has also announced that on the 6th of August, they will be releasing THX Game Profiles which are profiles designed and optimized for specific games.

Huawei Surpasses Samsung In Global Smartphone Sales

When it comes to the top three smartphone makers, Samsung used to lead the way, followed by Apple, and thirdly Huawei. However, in recent times, Huawei managed to surpass Apple to claim the number two spot, and now it looks like Huawei has managed to successfully beat out Samsung to claim the crown.

According to the data from Canalys, it appears that for Q2 2020, Huawei has managed to ship more smartphones around the world than any other smartphone maker. The research firm estimates that Huawei managed to ship a whopping 55.8 million devices, which is actually down by 5% year on year, but it was enough to topple Samsung.

Samsung on the other hand managed to ship 53.7 million units which is apparently a 30% dip from the same quarter last year. What’s interesting is that despite that trade ban that the US government has placed on Huawei, effectively locking them out of the US market, the company seems to be doing just fine.

Of course, not having access to such a huge market like the US is troubling, but like we said, Huawei seems to be doing fine even with those restrictions. It has also been suggested that Huawei’s explosion in growth could be due to the coronavirus pandemic and recovery in China, where the country’s economic recovery has helped the company with its smartphone sales.
