Logitech And Herman Miller Just Teamed Up For The Ultimate Gaming Chair

Herman Miller is probably best known as being the maker of ergonomic office chairs. While expensive, many claim that the company’s chairs are well worth the money. However, there also seems to be a rise in the demand for gaming chairs, and it looks like Herman Miller is hoping to take advantage of that by teaming up with Logitech.

This has resulted in the Herman Miller x Logitech G Embody Gaming Chair, which is based on Herman Miller’s Embody chair with some slight changes. For starters, some of the changes include how the chair now comes in a very sleek black finish, with Logitech’s “G” logo stamped on the headrest with various blue accents around the chair.

The chair will also feature seven points of calibration to help gamers find the right fit and right level of comfort. There is also a feature that the company is calling “Dynamic Pixel Circulation”, which apparently helps to better distribute your weight when you sit. There are also little slideouts to the sides of the chair to better accommodate your thighs.

Given that this is still a Herman Miller chair at its core, it will not come cheap. The chair will be priced at $1,495 and if you’re interested, you can head on over to Herman Miller’s website to place your order.

ASUS Unveiled A 65% Mechanical Keyboard

When it comes to small form factor keyboards like 60% models, those are typically used more in the keyboard enthusiast circle. However, it seems that these smaller form factor keyboards are starting to catch on because the other day, Razer announced the 60% Huntsman Mini, and now it looks like ASUS has joined in as well.

While not a 60%, ASUS has unveiled a 65% model in the form of the ROG Falchion. What’s the difference between these two models? A 60% keyboard typically dispenses with the arrow keys and certain navigation keys like Page Up and Page Down (these are accessible in layers), while a 65% keeps the arrow cluster and some navigation keys.

With the ROG Falchion, ASUS has created a wireless mechanical keyboard that uses a dongle that connects to computers via 2.4GHz WiFi. The company is boasting that it has a 1ms response time so lag should be relatively imperceivable for most users. There is also a built-in touch strip to the left side of the keyboard that users can customize to their liking.

The ASUS ROG Falchion will be using Cherry MX switches, but ASUS does not state which model. There is also no word on pricing or availability yet, but if you’re after a small form factor keyboard with dedicated arrow keys, then this could be a keyboard to keep an eye out for.

Microsoft Could Switch To Only Releasing One Windows Feature Update A Year

A couple of times a year, Microsoft releases new updates to Windows 10 that introduces new features to the operating system. This is great as it helps keep the operating system fresh, but it seems that the company could be considering scaling back on its feature updates to just once a year.

According to a report from ZDNet, starting in 2021, Microsoft could pull back on its feature updates to just once a year to help free up more engineers. For those unfamiliar, Microsoft is working on Windows 10X which is a version of Windows designed for newer devices like dual screen computers like the Surface Neo.

Windows 10X was initially designed and geared towards dual screen devices, but not too long ago, it was revealed that the company had a change in their strategy where they would focus on single screen devices first before moving onto dual screen ones. It was also recently reported that Windows 10X had been delayed and would now only be released in 2021, and then followed in 2022 for dual screen computers.

If you’re not exactly a power user of Windows and don’t really care too much for new features, then we suppose this shouldn’t really affect you all that much. However, if the feature updates are something you constantly look forward to, then this could be disappointing news.

Dogs Are Being Trained To Sniff Out COVID-19 In People

They say that dogs have the ability to sniff out cancer in people. As you might know, dogs have a very keen sense of smell, so the belief is that dogs are able to smell certain things in people that are being generated because of cancer. Based on that belief, it seems that over in Spain, dogs are being trained to sniff out COVID-19 in people.

According to university professor and veterinary epidemiologist, Fernando Mardones from the Catholic University of Chile, “A body that contracts Covid-19 generates volatile organic compounds. A sample is taken from a person in the early stages of the infection. A gauze is left for about 15 minutes on an individual’s underarm. That’s the sample we store and use to train the dogs with.”

That being said, it should be noted that at the moment, there is no evidence to suggest that dogs will be capable of sniffing out the coronavirus, so it will be interesting to see how effective this training program will be. At the moment, it is a pretty small program with about four puppies in training, but presumably if successful, would see it expanded.

Colonel Julio Santelices from the Chilean police adds, “A dog can detect, in an hour, it can sniff 250 people. So when we begin opening stadiums, schools, businesses, restaurants, it will be essential that in those places that are being opened, as we seek normalcy, we can now add our bio-detector dogs.”

Apple Is Apparently Not Interested In Acquiring ARM

Last week it was reported that Softbank was apparently thinking about selling off Arm Holdings. At that time, one of the most obvious potential companies to buy Arm from Softbank is Apple. This is because it would mean that Apple can stop paying licensing fees and instead get paid by other companies.

It would also help them given that Apple is now transitioning away from Intel to their own custom ARM-based chipset for their Mac computers. However, according to a report from Bloomberg, it seems that Apple is not interested. The report claims that both Apple and Softbank were apparently in preliminary talks, but ultimately Apple decided not to pursue it any further. Bloomberg’s sources claim that Arm’s licensing operation is apparently a poor fit with Apple’s business structure.

Plus there are also all the potential regulatory hurdles that could halt the sale in its tracks. This is because of the size of Apple and also the implications that the industry would have if an entity as big as Apple were to acquire Arm. Of course, things could change in the near future, but for now, it looks like it’s a no-go for Apple.

In the meantime, it was also recently reported that NVIDIA could be considering placing a bid for Arm Holdings. While the company does make their own chipsets, they aren’t particularly active on that front and the acquisition could help them kick things off again.

iPhone 12’s Braided Lightning To USB-C Cable Leaked

According to the rumors, Apple is set to give its Lightning to USB-C cable an upgrade. Apparently Apple will be bundling this new cable with the iPhone 12 and instead of the thin piece of rubber covering the cable, Apple will be upgrading it and making it braided instead, which should prove to be more durable.

Now thanks to a tweet by @L0vetodream, photos of the alleged cable have surfaced. It’s hard to tell if these cables are the real deal, but if they are accurate, Apple could actually be offering these cables in either a black or white finish. We’re not sure how Apple will separate the colors, but maybe the darker color iPhones will come with a black cable, while the lighter color ones will come with a white cable.

However, what’s interesting is that the black cable seems to come with a heat shrink of sorts at its ends, while the white one does not. We’re not sure what this means, but perhaps the heat shrink adds a bit more durability and will prevent it from breaking as easily. If that is the case, perhaps Apple could be selling the black cable as a separate accessory while the white one is bundled with the iPhone 12.

The rumors have also claimed that Apple will not be bundling accessories with the iPhone 12, such as the EarPods and the power adapter. Instead, this alleged braided cable will be the only thing that Apple will include in the box.
