Microsoft Edge multitasking features could end up cluttering your desktop

Rebasing Edge on Chromium rather than continuing its home-made web browser engine has freed up Microsoft to focus on other features that will differentiate its browser from Chrome. Some, like Collections, might be generally … Continue reading

Ubisoft Will Maintain The Price For Its Next-Gen Games For Now

The price of games have increased over the years. Right now, the price most can expect to pay for triple A titles are $60, but some companies such as 2K have increased those prices to $70 for games designed for next-gen consoles like Sony’s PS5 and the upcoming Microsoft Xbox Series X.

It has been suggested that other developers and publishers will follow suit in the future, but the good news is that Ubisoft won’t, at least for the time-being where the company has stated that they will be maintaining the $60 price tag for its next-gen titles. This is according to Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot who was quoted as saying, “We plan to come with the same price as the previous generation of consoles.”

Now before you get too excited, it seems that this could be temporary. In a statement that clarifies Guillemot’s words, Ubisoft said, “As we said earlier, for the $60 price we are really concentrating on the Christmas releases and we have decided that those games will be launched at $60.”

This means that it is possible that come 2021, Ubisoft will be raising the prices of their games as well to the $70 mark. We’re not sure when that will happen but get your wallets ready.

AT&T Is Trying To Scare Customers Into Upgrading Their Phones

As technology evolves, what we use now might not be relevant or even compatible with future tech. That much is expected, but it seems that AT&T has recently stoked the fears of customers by sending out an email suggesting that their phones might stop working if they do not upgrade them.

In the email that AT&T has sent to some of its customers, it reads, “We will soon be upgrading our network to the latest technologies. But your device is not compatible with the new network and you need to replace it to continue service.” The problem that many are finding with this email is that it is rather vague, although it does point to a support article that reminds customers that they will be scrapping its 3G network in 2022, and that’s what AT&T is referring to.

That being said, once word got around that AT&T was sending out these somewhat confusing emails, the carrier has released a statement to Android Police to clarify it. The statement reads, “This email was one of many planned to keep customers informed about the shutdown of our 3G network in early 2022.  It should have included the date that certain devices would no longer be supported.  We apologize for any confusion this may have caused and will be more clear in future updates.”

That being said, if you’re using a modern smartphone that you bought in the past few years, chances are you won’t be affected by this. But if for whatever reason you’re still holding onto a really old mobile device, then it really might be time to consider upgrading anyway.

Apple Will Give ‘Hacker Friendly’ iPhones To Top Bug Bounty Hunters

Apple typically keeps their iPhones locked up pretty tight. Some have complained that this makes it almost impossible to customize an iPhone on the same level as an Android device, although it has been suggested that this is done for security purposes. However, it seems that Apple could be relaxing on that rule, at least for a select group of users.

Apple has announced that start today, the company will start to loan out special “hacker friendly” iPhones to bug bounty hunters. These iPhones will pretty much allow developers and hackers to gain unprecedented access to the inner workings of the iPhone in an attempt to help Apple figure out any bugs or exploits that might be in their devices, so that they can fix them.

According to the company, “As part of Apple’s commitment to security, this program is designed to help improve security for all iOS users, bring more researchers to iPhone, and improve efficiency for those who already work on iOS security. It features an iPhone dedicated exclusively to security research, with unique code execution and containment policies.”

Of course, not just anyone will be able to get their hands on these devices. There will be several requirements that participants need to meet in order to qualify to take part in this program. Participants are also required to have a proven track record of their ability in finding bugs on Apple’s platforms or other systems.

Alexa Will Soon Be Able To Control iOS And Android Apps

Apple’s iPhones and Google’s Android devices come with their own digital assistants in the form of Siri and Google Assistant. One of the advantages of having a native digital assistant is that it is deeply integrated into the operating system, allowing them to do things that third-party digital assistants can’t.

However, it seems that Amazon’s Alexa will soon start to creep into more iOS and Android apps as Amazon has announced what they are calling Alexa for Apps. This is a new feature that is currently in preview and basically what it does is that it allows Alexa more access to iOS and Android apps, where users who prefer using Alexa can now launch and control these apps to a certain extent.

According to Amazon, “With Alexa for Apps added to a custom skill, customers who make requests using the Alexa app, Alexa built-in phones, or Alexa mobile accessories such as Echo Buds, can use their voice to interact with mobile apps. Key use cases include using voice to quickly search, view more information, and access any functionality inside your app.”

It should be noted that Siri and Google Assistant can already do things that Alexa plans to offer to users, and the onus will be on developers to integrate Alexa into their apps. These are hurdles that Amazon needs to overcome, but at least it will give users more options. In the meantime you can check out an example of Alexa integration with TikTok in the video above.
