The OnePlus Nord Is Officially Here

The price of OnePlus handsets have been increasing over the years, and the good news for those who have felt that the company’s phones have gotten a bit too expensive, then you’ll be pleased to learn that OnePlus has since officially announced their latest smartphone that comes in the form of the mid-range OnePlus Nord.

The phone is priced starting at around $450, but like we said, this is a mid-range smartphone so don’t expect to see any high-end hardware like the Snapdragon 865 chipset. Instead, the OnePlus Nord will feature the use of the Snapdragon 765G, but that’s not a bad thing as this is essentially a mid-range handset that will support 5G, making it easier for those on a budget to have access to a 5G smartphone.

The Nord will also come with a 6.44-inch Fluid AMOLED display with a 2400×1800 resolution and also a 90Hz refresh rate, which is a nice surprise for a mid-ranger. We’re also looking at a base of 8GB of RAM but it will go up to 12GB of RAM. Storage will also range from 64GB and will go up to 256GB.

The camera on the OnePlus Nord will be a quad camera setup on the back which includes a 48MP sensor, an 8MP sensor, a 5MP sensor, and a 2MP sensor, while the front-facing camera is a dual camera setup that includes a 32MP sensor and an 8MP sensor. These are actually pretty impressive specs for a mid-ranger and could give other companies a run for their money. Unfortunately, for now the OnePlus Nord will only be available in India, Europe, and the UK.

OnePlus Buds Are Official And Its Price Will Surprise You

Leading up to the OnePlus Nord announcement, the company also teased that they would be launching a pair of true wireless earbuds. According to the company’s teaser, they hinted that the earbuds would be priced very affordably, and sure enough it looks like they were right on the money.

The OnePlus Buds has since been officially announced and according to the company, it will be priced at $79. This makes the OnePlus Buds one of the cheapest true wireless earbuds that we have seen from a handset maker to date, where other companies such as Apple, Samsung, and Huawei have theirs priced a bit higher.

The design of the OnePlus Buds appear to be more in line with earbuds like the Apple AirPods and the Huawei Freebuds with a long-ish stem. According to OnePlus, these wireless earbuds will feature 13.4mm dynamic drivers that will offer deeper bass, and also features what the company calls environmental noise cancellation (which effectively means that these are passive noise cancellation earphones, not active ones like the AirPods Pro).

They also come with a charging case that OnePlus claims will offer up to 30 hours of listening time in total. There is no word on availability yet, but the company states that it will be revealed soon.

Here’s How You Can Get The OnePlus Nord In The US

When OnePlus announced their latest smartphone, the OnePlus Nord, the company stated that the phone will be initially available in India and Europe. So what about those living in the US or the North American market? It seems odd that the company would be ignoring such a huge market right out of the gate.

However, we have some good news because it looks like OnePlus will be bringing the phone stateside, although it will come in the form of a beta program. The company has announced that they will be launching a beta program for the OnePlus Nord that will be open to to those living in the US and Canada.

According to OnePlus, “At OnePlus, we’re dedicated to bringing flagship experiences to all our devices. Our history has shown that focusing on just a few markets first and then expanding has worked well. While this new smartphone product line will initially be available in Europe and India, we look forward to bringing more affordable smartphones to North America in the future.”

This beta program will only be open to 50 people, yes, 50, and if you’re interested, you can head on over here to fill up an application form and cross your fingers and hope that you get chosen to take part in the program.

Instagram Testing Fundraising For Personal Causes

Need to fund something on the internet? Maybe to raise money to pay hospital bills? Pay for a lawyer? Gofundme has been pretty much the de facto platform for fundraising causes, but it seems that Instagram now wants in on the action themselves as the company has since announced that they are testing out a similar feature.

According to Instagram, “Starting today, we’re rolling out a new way to raise money for a personal cause, like yourself, your small business, a friend or a cause that’s important to you. We’ll begin with a small test to create a Personal Fundraiser in the US, UK and Ireland on Android, followed by iOS.”

The company claims that by introducing the feature directly into Instagram itself, it makes it easier for people who are already on its platform to help donate money to people who are seeking to raise funds for a personal cause. Instagram will vet each and every fundraising initiative to make sure that they are eligible, and each fundraising event will run for 30 days, although this can be extended.

Users who choose to donate to this fund can also opt to remain anonymous if they’d prefer. This feature is currently undergoing testing and is expected to be made available to those living in the US, UK, and Ireland for now.

LG Velvet 5G US availability starts this week

OnePlus’ announcement this morning may have been relatively low-key but the OnePlus Nord’s pricing definitely had the Internet buzzing. Given that scenario, it almost seems counterintuitive to announce a new mid-range smartphone but that didn’t seem to have fazed LG one bit. Granted, the LG Velvet has actually been in the market much earlier than the OnePlus Nord but it … Continue reading
