OnePlus Nord Will Use Google Apps Instead Of Its Own

The thing about Android phones is that a lot of them tend to use the same hardware. To better differentiate themselves, handset makers tend to introduce their own software to their phones. This may or may not be a good thing, depending on how you use your phone, but for OnePlus, it seems that they’ll be reverting back to Google.

For the company’s upcoming OnePlus Nord smartphone, it appears that the company will be relying on Google apps for some of the phone’s basic functions. This includes using Google Phone for the phone’s dialer app, and Google Messages to handle SMS. According to OnePlus, the reason for the change is because Google’s apps are “smoother”.

This makes sense because since Google developed Android, obviously the apps they’ve created have been optimized for the platform. This is why in the past, companies like Samsung were lambasted for its TouchWiz UI, which the company has since pared down considerably with the release of the One UI.

We’re not sure if OnePlus will only be making this changes just for their upcoming Nord handset, or if it will be the company’s strategy moving forwards. Either way, if you want an Android phone that’s close to stock as possible without it being a Pixel handset, then the OnePlus Nord could be worth checking out when it is officially announced this week.

KFC Wants To 3D Print Your Chicken Nuggets

While KFC is probably best known as a fast food chain selling fried chicken, the company is actually quite interested in technology as they have played around with various ideas in the past. Now it looks like the company is hoping to that those experiments to the next level in the form of 3D bioprinting, where in the future, it is possible that your KFC nuggets could be 3D printed.

This is according to an announcement by the company in which they will be teaming up with a Russian company called 3D Bioprinting Solutions. By using this printing technique, it will combine the use of chicken cells and plant materials to help replicate the taste and texture of chicken, while maintaining the company’s signature taste.

According to Yusef Khesuani, co-founder and Managing Partner of 3D Bioprinting Solutions, “3D bioprinting technologies, initially widely recognized in medicine, are nowadays gaining popularity in producing foods such as meat. In the future, the rapid development of such technologies will allow us to make 3D-printed meat products more accessible and we are hoping that the technology created as a result of our cooperation with KFC will help accelerate the launch of cell-based meat products on the market.”

This is actually not KFC’s first time attempting to change the way their food is produced. Last year, the company teamed up with Beyond Meat to offer up plant-based fried “chicken”, which turned out to be a smashing success where they sold out in as little as five hours.

Sony Might Limit PS5 Orders To One Per Household

The Sony PS5 is expected to be released later this year. Given the popularity of the PlayStation series in general, we expect that there will most likely be a rush of gamers eager to place their orders. In order to ensure that gamers will be able to purchase the console, it seems that Sony could be employing a preventive measure that will limit one console purchase per household.

This is according to a post on Reddit in which it details the backend code for PlayStation Direct where it suggests that only one household may order one PS5 at a time. Presumably this is done to prevent people from purchasing multiple units at once in order to resell them at higher prices due to potential limited supply at the start.

That being said, this also seems to be in line with a previous report that suggested that Sony could produce as many as 4 million extra PS5 units to meet the demand. Sony is predicted to produce about 5-6 million units, but recent reports claim that the number could be increased to 9-10 million as Sony anticipates that there could be a greater demand due to gamers being stuck at home because of the pandemic.

We’re not sure if these limitations are accurate so we’ll have to wait for the console’s actual pre-orders to go live first, which at this point in time is anyone’s guess.
