Cuphead Is Now Available For The PS4

Yesterday it was reported that Studio MDHR’s indie hit Cuphead could be headed for the PS4. This was due to the fact that the game was spotted on the PSN Store, hinting at its arrival. The good news for those who have been looking forward to the game is that it looks like Cuphead is officially here and is already available for purchase.

The game is priced at $20 and gamers who are interested can head on over to the PlayStation Store to get their hands on it. That being said, the developers have also announced that as a thank you to Microsoft for helping them with the game, they have also announced a free special update exclusive to Xbox gamers.

According to the developers, “So, to celebrate the wonderful players who believed in us from the very beginning, we’re also making another announcement: we will be bringing a free Special Update to Cuphead fans on Xbox, which will add a digital art gallery, behind-the-scenes commentary features, and playable soundtrack to the game. This update is still in the early planning stages, and we’ll be taking the time to get things just right, but we will be sure to share more when we have something for you that meets the level of care and quality we always strive for.”

In addition to the PS4 and Xbox One, Cuphead is also available on the PC and macOS, the Nintendo Switch, and also in Tesla’s vehicles.

Rite Aid’s Stores Have Been Using Facial Recognition Systems For Years

A lot of stores feature security cameras. This is to help deter crime such as shoplifting, but it seems that Rite Aid has been doing more than that. According to an investigative report by Reuters,  they have discovered that Rite Aid’s stores have been employing the use of facial recognition systems for at least the past eight years or so.

According to the report from Reuters, most of these facial recognition systems were used in what they described as “largely lower-income, non-white neighborhoods” in both New York and Los Angeles. How these systems work is that whenever a customer enters the store, it tries to match them against a database of people whom Rite Aid had previously observed as engaging in potential criminal activity.

If there is a match, an alert will be sent to the security agents at the stores who will then review the match for accuracy, and they then have the option of asking that customer to leave. Rite Aid claims to have informed customers of the use of the technology through signage, but Reuters claims that during their investigation, more than a third of the stores they visited with the system deployed did not have these notices.

That being said, Rite Aid has since pulled the plug on the use of facial recognition in its stores around 200 locations. In a statement made to Reuters, “This decision was in part based on a larger industry conversation.” Rite Aid also noted that “other large technology companies seem to be scaling back or rethinking their efforts around facial recognition given increasing uncertainty around the technology’s utility.”

Could Apple Have A New 5K Standalone Monitor In The Works?

When it comes to monitors, it typically does not discriminate between operating systems. As long as you have the right cable and connector, you should be good to go whether you’re using a Windows PC or a Mac computer. However, sometimes there might be some monitors better optimized for certain platforms, like LG’s UltraFine 5K display for Macs.

If you were eyeing the monitor and are thinking about picking it up for yourself, you are out of luck because according to a report from 9to5Mac, they have discovered that the display is no longer available on Apple’s websites. The monitors are still listed, but are marked as “Currently Unavailable”.

Usually when Apple runs out or low on stock, customers will have to wait a few days, weeks, or in some cases months, but will still be able to pre-order them. However, in this particular instance, the monitors are simply listed as unavailable. It is unclear what this could mean – could Apple have a new monitor in the works?

There is some precedence to this, where back in, the LG UltraFine 5K disappeared from Apple’s stores before a newer gen model appeared in its place. This could be another similar scenario. However, it is possible that much like the rest of the world, LG could be facing manufacturing and production issues due to the coronavirus pandemic and aren’t able to produce enough displays for Apple. Either way, we’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for more information when it becomes available.
