Apparently Owning An iPhone Makes You More Attractive On Dating Apps

Dating apps are very superficial because since you don’t get to talk to the person while you’re checking out their profile, it’s pretty much based on looks. However, apparently it’s not just looks that will make you successful on a dating app, but it also seems that what kind of smartphone or smartwatch you own helps.

Wait, what? According to a somewhat interesting and novel study conducted by CompareMyMobile, it appears that depending on the smartphone brand you own, you may increase your chances of success at getting a date on a dating app. The study found that users who had Apple devices in their profiles were found to be 76% “more attractive” than those who owned other brands or platforms.

For example, owning an iPhone apparently resulted in more users having their profiles swiped right on, while the Apple Watch made users 61% “more attractive”, and the AirPods by 41%. Samsung users did not fare that much better with the study finding that it only added about 19% “more attractiveness”.

Also, it seems that owning a BlackBerry was a huge no-no where it would negatively impact your chances by a whopping 74%. We’re not sure what the point of the study was, but if you haven’t had much luck using dating apps, maybe consider uploading a new profile photo where you flex your iPhone.

Apple Might Lose The Entire Chinese Market If WeChat Is Banned

China is a huge market for Apple and pretty much any business hoping to strike it big in the world today. However, it seems that Apple could potentially lose the entire market due to the ongoing trade war between the US and China, where the US government is looking into potentially banning Chinese apps such as WeChat.

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, they have gone on record to say that if such a ban were to take place, they would see no reason to keep Apple’s iPhones or any other Apple products around. We’re not sure if this means that they would outright ban Apple, or if they would simply embark on a campaign to discourage the use of Apple’s products and services.

Previously, a study had suggested that 95% of Chinese users would give up their iPhones rather than lose WeChat. For the most part, Apple has complied a lot with Chinese government rules and regulations, but we suppose it can’t be helped if they were to get caught in the crossfire.

That being said, a recent report suggested that WeChat’s ban might only apply to the US, but even then that would be problematic as WeChat is one of the main forms of communication over in China. Banning the app even in the US could result in it being more difficult for families and friends to keep in contact, and could also negatively impact businesses that have connections over in China.

Apple’s 12-inch MacBook Will Be Making A Comeback Later This Year

Apple’s 12-inch MacBook had a relatively short life compared to the company’s other laptop offerings. For the most part, it was relatively underpowered and wasn’t exactly cheap. It was also positioned weirdly as the MacBook Air offered up considerably better performance for a little bit more money.

However, it seems that Apple could be reviving the laptop again, according to a report from the China Times who alleges that Apple’s first computer that will use the company’s custom silicon will come in the form of the 12-inch MacBook. In a way we can’t say we’re too surprised as this was actually rumored in the past.

Apple had actually stopped selling the 12-inch MacBook back in 2019 where it appeared to have been discontinued, but this new report suggests that the laptop could be brought back and given a new lease on life. Apple did previously state that they will be launching new computers using their new chipsets starting this year and will make the transition over a two-year period.

So far based on benchmarks we’re seeing of Apple’s new custom silicon, there is a lot to be excited about, although real-world testing is probably going to be the best indicator as to whether or not Apple’s newly-chosen strategy is the right one.
