Google Might Replace Duo With Meet
Posted in: Today's ChiliGoogle has made many attempts over the years at creating video calling apps. Admittedly this has created something of a confusing situation as users probably don’t know which to use. Right now, Google has Duo and Meet, so like we said, there is the question of which app should users use?
According to 9to5Google, it seems that Google will make that decision easier as they have heard that apparently, Google plans to eventually replace Duo with Meet. Once this happens, Duo will be gone and Google will only have one video calling platform, which is Meet, although we’re not sure if this will be rebranded as the publication claims that internally, the merging of both services has been referred to as Duet (Duo + Meet).
For those unfamiliar, Duo and Meet both serve two different types of users, with Duo more focused on regular users, while Meet is more geared towards enterprise users. However, Google is apparently looking to create a unified platform that can be used for both enterprise and regular users, kind of like how Zoom is used for fun while also used for businesses and by professionals.
It is unclear when this will happen, but it seems that there were already signs that this was in the works. Recently, Google integrated Meet with Gmail, giving the platform more prominence, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

Instagram recently launched a new feature that’s part of its service called Reels. This is Instagram’s version and answer to TikTok, although given that it is buried within Instagram which is already packed full of features, we imagine that it might be a bit hard for users to find out how to use it.
This is why it doesn’t come as a surprise to learn that for some Instagram users, it appears that the company is trying out a new design with its app, where they have replaced the Search button at the bottom navigation row for a Reels button. The idea behind it is that by placing Reels more prominently, users will be able to find it easily and make or watch videos.
Search will not be gone, obviously, and the Search button has since been moved to the top. If you don’t see these changes, don’t worry because it seems like a server-side test. Whether or not Instagram sticks with this new design remains to be seen, although this isn’t a completely unprecedented move.
Previously when Instagram launched its IGTV feature, accessing it was also placed prominently on the main page of the app, although the company later removed it. It is possible that these changes are temporary until Reels gains in popularity, or it might even become a mainstay feature, who knows?

There will not be a Wimbledon Championship this year due to the coronavirus. This isn’t surprising as many sporting events have been put on hold or postponed, most notably the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. But what if you really wanted to watch a game of tennis? Thanks to the use of AI, researchers have managed to create an extremely realistic and almost believable game of tennis.
The researchers from Stanford University trained their AI using a database of annotated footage. By “watching” these videos, the AI managed to learn and predict how certain tennis players would move or react in various situations, and as a result, the researchers put together a video that showed tennis pros playing against each other.
However, none of it is real as they were generated using AI, but like we said, it looks very realistic and if you weren’t paying too much attention, it could be easily passed off looking like the real thing. By using AI, the researchers could create all kinds of dream matches of pros playing against each other.
Or like in the video above, one of the researcher even suggests that you could have tennis professionals play against themselves, which is kind of weird to watch but we’re sure some you might have imagined what it would be like if Roger Federer were to go up against himself.
