‘Apple One’ Subscription Bundle Could Be In The Works

Apple has various subscription services under its belt at the moment. However, all these subscriptions are sold separately, which when added together can be rather pricey, but it seems that Apple is hoping to take out some of that bite with a subscription bundle that could combine various services together at a cheaper rate.

This is according to a report from Bloomberg who claims that the bundle, known as Apple One internally, could come in a variety of tiers. The base tier will most likely bundle Apple Music together with Apple TV+, while other tiers could see the inclusion of Apple Arcade, Apple News+, and also iCloud.

Bloomberg also claims that Apple might actually introduce a new fitness subscription similar to Peloton, although we’re not sure what this might include, but presumably it would be access to various fitness and workout videos. There is no word on pricing just yet, but Bloomberg expects that these bundles could be announced alongside the iPhone 12, which last we heard could be taking place this October.

Take this with a grain of salt for now, but this is actually not the first time we’re hearing about an Apple subscription bundle. It was reported back in 2019 that such a bundle could make an appearance in 2020, and if this report is accurate, we could be learning about it pretty soon.

Apple Removes Fortnite From The App Store

Fortnite was launched on iOS a while ago and it has been a huge money maker for Apple, where the game was said to be earning as much as $2 million a day from in-app purchases. We say it’s a money maker for Apple because the company takes a 30% cut from in-app sales, meaning that for almost doing nothing, Apple is earning about $600,000 a day from Fornite alone.

Naturally this hasn’t sat well with Fortnite’s developer, Epic, who recently decided it would be a good idea to launch direct payments within Fortnite, where they priced the sale of their in-game currency, V-Bucks, at a cheaper rate compared to buying it using Apple’s in-app purchase system. Unfortunately, this has upset Apple who has since removed the game from the App Store.

In a statement made to MacRumors, Apple said, “Today, Epic Games took the unfortunate step of violating the ‌App Store‌ guidelines that are applied equally to every developer and designed to keep the store safe for our users. As a result their Fortnite app has been removed from the store. Epic enabled a feature in its app which was not reviewed or approved by Apple, and they did so with the express intent of violating the ‌App Store‌ guidelines regarding in-app payments that apply to every developer who sells digital goods or services.”

However, it seems that this could have been Epic’s plan all along, because the company has since filed a lawsuit against Apple which we imagine is the company’s plan to highlight Apple’s “unreasonable and unlawful restraints to completely monopolize both markets”. Epic isn’t the only company to take issue with Apple’s 30% cut, where in the past, Spotify had also expressed their dissatisfaction, while others like Amazon have completely disabled in-app purchases.

This Inhaler Could Be Used To Kill The Coronavirus

We’re sure many are eagerly looking forward to the day when they can leave their homes and not wear a mask and not worry about getting infected by the coronavirus. That day will come once a vaccine hits the market, but in the meantime, it seems that scientists at the University of California San Francisco have come up with a temporary workaround.

This comes in the form of an inhaler or nasal spray, which releases nanobodies that can help prevent airborne viruses like the coronavirus from infecting cells. The nanobodies are synthetic versions of the nanobodies from animals like the llama and camel, where the researchers found that these nanobodies have the ability to latch onto the spike protein found in the coronavirus and neutralizes them.

These nanobodies, dubbed AeroNabs, are recommended to be used once a day where it will apparently offer up protection until a vaccine arrives. This means that this is more of a temporary solution and acts as an alternative to other protective measures like wearing a face shield or a mask.

That being said, before you get too excited at this possibility, know that the tech will need to undergo the required clinical trials and clear various regulatory hurdles before it hits the market, so it looks like wearing masks and practicing social distancing will still need to be practiced until then.
