Fitbit Challenges Apple With Their New ‘Fitbit Sense’ Smartwatch

The Apple Watch is one of the more feature packed smartwatches available in the market today, with Apple reportedly dominating more than 50% of the global smartwatch market. However, it looks like Fitbit wants to take them on as the company has since unveiled their latest smartwatch in the form of the Fitbit Sense.

Fitbit has mostly been known for their fitness trackers, but with the Fitbit Sense, the company is introducing a host of new health-related features that could make it more appealing to users. This includes an ECG monitor that can check on the rhythm of your heart to see if there are any abnormalities.

There is also a built-in skin temperature sensor which can check for fever or changes in your temperature that could indicate other things like the start of a new menstrual phase. There will also be an EDA sensor that detects changes in the sweat level of your skin, which according to Fitbit, can help users understand their stressors which in turn could allow you to better manage your stress if you know what is stressing you out.

If these sound like features you might be interested in, the Fitbit Sense is priced at $329.95 and you can go ahead and pre-order the device via Fitbit’s website.

iPhone 12 May Or May Not Come With A 120Hz Display

Ever since the iPad Pro introduced a 120Hz display to Apple’s products, many have been wondering if this could eventually extend to the iPhone, especially with many Android phones these days sporting refresh rates above 60Hz. It turns out that it is still pretty much up in the air at the moment.

This is according to a report from display analyst Ross Young who claims that Apple may or may not feature 120Hz displays on its iPhone 12. Young claims that while Apple might have sourced 120Hz display panels, they are apparently having difficulty in sourcing 120Hz driver ICs.

So what does this mean? It means that either Apple could delay the iPhone 12 while they wait for these driver ICs to become available, or possibly launch the iPhone 12 without 120Hz displays. Interestingly enough, Young had previously claimed that the iPhone 12 will not come with a 120Hz display as his contacts have been unable to corroborate the rumors, but now it seems that he thinks that there could be a slight chance.

Apple had previously confirmed that the iPhone 12 will be launching later than usual, but it was unclear why that might be the case. It was speculated that maybe it had to do with the coronavirus pandemic that forced factories to temporarily shutdown, but either way, we will most likely have to wait until October (or possibly later) for the official word.

Alleged Leaked Screenshots ‘Confirms’ iPhone 12’s 120Hz Display

An earlier report suggested that the iPhone 12 may or may not come with a 120Hz display. The report claimed that while Apple managed to obtain the 120Hz panels, they were having some trouble procuring the driver ICs, which could either lead to Apple delaying the launch of the iPhone 12 while waiting for the components, or to drop the feature entirely.

Now thanks to new leaked screenshots from Jon Prosser, it looks like the rumors could be true after all. The leaked screenshots allegedly show the display settings for the iPhone 12 where users are given the option to toggle the 120Hz display. Based on what we can see, the settings allow users to turn the feature on or off.

It also gives users the option of toggling an adaptive display, where depending on the app or situation, the iPhone 12’s display could alternate between 60Hz and 120Hz, which is what we’ve seen some other handsets offer in the past. Also, the reason for giving users the option to turn it on or off is to save battery, where obviously a higher refresh rate would most certainly use more battery.

That being said, this does not necessarily confirm that the feature is coming. Like we said earlier, based on the report, Apple could end up dropping the feature, but it does not mean that these screenshots are inaccurate. It could have been that Apple was preparing to launch the feature, so either way, we’ll have to wait and see.
