FDA warns more dog food recalled over risk to pets and humans

Only days after the previous dog food recall, the FDA is drawing attention to another voluntary recall of dog food, this time over the risk of Salmonella contamination. The recall impacts one dog food brand and shouldn’t be mistaken for the dog food recall from earlier this month, which involved the presence of a potentially deadly toxin that results from … Continue reading

USAF’s new eSeries classification is for digitally designed aircraft

The United States Air Force has introduced a new classification for hardware that it says refers to its ‘digital future.’ Called the ‘eSeries,’ this classification refers to aircraft that is digitally engineered and virtually tested well before the first physical prototype is created, a ‘paradigm shift’ that is particularly important during the pandemic. The classification will apply to the very … Continue reading

Android TV Android 11 update to bring speed, gamepad improvements

Even compared to Android Auto, Android’s TV incarnation hasn’t exactly been getting much attention, especially from Google itself. The past months, however, have been particularly interesting, especially with rumors around Google’s first Android TV dongle. As if heralding the arrival of that “Sabrina” device, Google has now announced the Android 11 update for Android TV, promising to bring a handful … Continue reading

Some People Are Accidentally Ordering The Xbox One Instead Of Xbox Series X

So pre-orders of the Xbox Series X and Series S have gone live and as expected, many have rushed to online retailers to place their orders. Some customers have struggled with their orders due to the rush of thousands of others hoping to snag a unit upon release, but some have found the process a bit too easy.

According to various postings on Twitter, there is a good reason why some users have had no issues with their orders. It is because some have mistakenly placed an order for either the Xbox One X or the Xbox One S instead of the Series X or Series S. According to one user, “I happily snagged my ‘Xbox’ at 8am from Best Buy…wondered why it said it would be ready on 9/30…only to realize I had selected an Xbox One S…not Series S.”

It doesn’t seem to be limited to just a handful of customers either because as noted by Andrew Alerts on Twitter, Xbox One X sales on Amazon have spiked by a whopping 747%. We can safely assume that this has to do with mistaken orders, although it’s safe to assume that some were placed in earnest.

If you were one of those who accidentally ordered an Xbox One X instead of the Series X, you might take comfort in knowing that even Microsoft themselves are confused with the naming. As The Verge’s Tom Warren points out, Microsoft even called the console the “Xbox One Series X” on one of their pages.

That being said, if you have placed an order for the Xbox Series X or Series S, maybe it might be a good idea to double check your confirmation email to make sure that you have indeed ordered Microsoft’s next-gen console.

Metal Gear Solid 1 And 2 Could Be Coming To PC

If you’re a fan of the Metal Gear Solid series and would love to play the games on your PC, you could be in luck because according to reports made on the Resetera forums, it would appear that both Metal Gear Solid 1 and Metal Gear Solid 2 are reportedly being planned for a release on the PC.

But wait, weren’t both games released on the PC in the past? You would be right about that, but it should be noted that both PC releases for either title were nearly more than two decades ago, so presumably the upcoming releases will be remade/remastered so that they will be more relevant and compatible for modern gaming rigs.

While it’s easy to dismiss rumors shared on a forum, it should also be noted that Konami isn’t a stranger to reviving older titles for modern computers. Back in 2019, Konami released a compilation of several of its older titles that brought them onto modern consoles like the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

This means that while unconfirmed, it would not be a stretch to think that maybe Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2 could also be given a similar treatment. Take this with a grain of salt for now, but hopefully we’ll have more details soon.

IKEA’s Catalog Now Even Features A CGI ‘Influencer’ Model

If you’ve ever seen an IKEA catalog or browsed its website, you might be thinking that it seems like a crazy amount of work to layout all of the company’s products in various scenarios, especially with all the different color combinations. In case you did not know, the bulk of them are actually computer generated.

This allows the company to quickly throw together marketing materials and create different looks without having to reshuffle furniture and put them through photoshoots each and every time. If your mind is blown, then check this out because IKEA is taking its CGI efforts to the next level by introducing a CGI “influencer” model to its catalog.

Dubbed “Imma”, this CGI model actually has a following online and was created by ModelingCafe a while ago. However, it should be noted that only the head is computer generated, which is then placed on top of a real human model’s body during postproduction, meaning that she isn’t 100% computer generated.

Yup, so that person you’re seeing in the video above isn’t 100% real, and that’s pretty scary to think how far along we’ve come in terms of computer graphics to make them look so realistic. So, could this become the new standard in terms of product photography, where brands in the future might simply turn to CGI for their models? We wouldn’t be surprised if that is the future we could end up living in.
