Duh: FBI Warned Doorbell Cams Can Also Tip Suspects Off to Approaching Cops
Posted in: Today's ChiliThe FBI warned in a November 2019 bulletin that smart video doorbells, such as Amazon’s Ring or Google’s Nest Hello cameras, could tip off suspects that police are coming for them, according to a Monday report in the Intercept.
We know that Amazon has had plans to use drones to help with the delivery of packages. The good news is that the company can now start doing so, at least on a trial basis as the FAA has basically given their approval and has granted the company an “air carrier” designation. This means that Amazon can now conduct trials for commercial drone delivery.
According to David Carbon, an Amazon vice president, “This certification is an important step forward for Prime Air and indicates the FAA’s confidence in Amazon’s operating and safety procedures for an autonomous drone delivery service that will one day deliver packages to our customers around the world.”
There is no word on when or where these trials will begin, but as the Bloomberg report points out, Amazon has test sites over in the Northwest as well as Vancouver, so it is possible that the trials might begin there. However, these are only trials which means that it could still be a few years before we see it actually become a mainstay service, if at all.
Amazon is not alone in the idea of using drones to deliver products. Given that drones can skip all the traffic and go straight to their destinations, it could be useful to deliver products that are relatively nearby. It would also be a lot quicker, although there are limitations as drones need to be recharged and also they can’t carry items that are too heavy.

It will just be hours before Samsung unveils its second foldable phone this year and it won’t be too much of a surprise if the Galaxy Z Fold 2’s presence will raise questions about Motorola’s next foldable phone. Of course, the Lenovo subsidiary isn’t going to stray away from its Razr form factor to take on Samsung, which, in turn, … Continue reading
Almost all major Android manufacturers have their own custom Android user experience, a customization that has long been blamed for the slow rollout of updates. That is why OEMs that stick to a more or less pure Android experience have always been held in high regard, especially considering how few of them there are. Along with the now-defunct Essential and … Continue reading

When Apple updated the iMac earlier this month, the company kept the same design and it felt like it was mostly about slightly upgraded hardware. This led to speculation that the company was probably holding off on introducing its new design for its own custom silicon, and it looks like we’ll have to wait until 2021 to find out.
In a report from the China Times, they are alleging that Apple will be launching a new iMac in 2021 where it will not only be sporting Apple’s custom silicon, but it will apparently also come with a custom GPU. According to the report, they cite industry insiders who pointed out that Apple’s ARM chipsets will not support AMD GPUs, which is what is being used in Apple’s current Mac lineup.
Given that Apple has not worked with NVIDIA for years, it is expected that we will be seeing not just custom CPUs, but GPUs in future Mac computers as well. Interestingly enough, this is actually not the first time we’re hearing about this. Way back in 2017, there were already reports that Apple was looking to develop their own custom GPUs, although it was for mobile.
However, with Apple’s custom chipsets seemingly based on their A-series which can be found on iPhones and iPads, we suppose it doesn’t really come as a complete surprise.

For a while now Apple has been rumored to be working on a Tile-like tracking accessory. There have been various screenshots to suggest that such a device exists, but to date, Apple has yet to officially announce anything. However, that is expected to change in the coming months where Apple could finally unveil them in October.
This is according to a report from Macotakara who were told by an unknown Chinese supplier that the accessory may make its appearance at the iPhone 12 event, which for now is currently rumored for October. We suppose this kind of makes sense as it is an accessory designed for the iPhone, so there is no better time than the iPhone event to unveil it.
For those who might be unfamiliar, the AirTags are expected to be similar to Tile, which is a small Bluetooth enabled device that can be put into bags or onto keys in the form of a keychain. Users can then use Bluetooth to keep track of their belongings to make sure that they never lose them again.
However, one of the alleged main differences between the AirTags and Tile’s trackers is that the AirTags will rely on ultra wideband technology that will apparently allow for more pinpoint accuracy over conventional Bluetooth technology.
