iPhone 12 Could Launch In A Stunning Blue Finish

Apple’s iPhone 12 launch has been delayed by a few weeks as previously confirmed by Apple themselves. There is still no word on when the device will be launched, but it seems that when that does happen, iPhone customers can look forward to a brand new color option in the form of blue.

This is according to a report from DigiTimes who claims that this will mark a new color offered to the iPhone since last year where Apple released a dark green finish. In this case, the color option that Apple will offer will come in the form of a dark blue. This isn’t the first time that we’ve heard such rumors, although earlier rumors suggested a navy blue finish for those wondering what shade of blue to expect.

In a way, this almost feels like it shares the same tone as the midnight green finish that was offered to last year’s iPhone 11 series. We’ve already seen some concepts that depicts a navy blue iPhone, and we have to say that if the end product looks anything like the concepts we’ve seen, then we are pretty excited for it.

In addition to a new color finish, this year’s iPhones have also been rumored to sport a brand new design where it will draw inspiration from the iPad Pro, and there will also be a new larger display, along with support for 5G technology.

Apple Accidentally Approved Malware To Run On Macs

One of the reasons why Apple is so insistent on users getting their apps through the App Store is because of the checks that they put in place to prevent bad actors from getting in. However, it’s a slightly different story for Mac computers where users can download apps from anywhere, which can be dangerous.

However, Apple has a feature called notarization which basically means that if developers want to distribute their apps outside of the Mac App Store, they will need to go through a notarization process. Unfortunately, according to a report from security researcher Patrick Wardle has revealed that Apple had somehow accidentally notarized malware.

The report claims that a user meant to visit brew.sh but accidentally went to homebrew.sh and was greeted with a fake warning that Adobe Flash was out of date, which the user then went on to install the “update” which was really malware in disguise. Typically, this would not have happened under normal circumstances if the software was not notarized, but somehow this slipped through the cracks.

Apple has since rescinded the notarization for this particular malware, but that’s apparently not the end of it. Wardle reports that the website has since been updated with a slightly different version of the previous malware that was also notarized.

iPhone 12 Expected In The Second Half Of October

Back in July, Apple confirmed that the iPhone 12 would be delayed by a few weeks. However, the company stopped short of mentioning when exactly. However, it seems that we might have a timeframe to look forward, at least that’s according to a report from Macotakara who cites information from Chinese suppliers.

According to the report, they are claiming that the iPhone 12 will be launching in the second half of October. We had previously heard that the iPhone 12 could launch in October, but we did not know when, and now thanks to this report, it looks like the dates have narrowed down a bit, although we still do not have the specifics just yet.

Apple still has a bunch of products that they have yet to announce. This includes the Apple Watch Series 6, new iPads, and we have heard that the company is also planning on finally unveiling its much-rumored AirTags tracking accessory, which will apparently also take place alongside the iPhone 12 in October.

Take this report with a grain of salt for now, but given that we’re almost in September and there’s still no official word from Apple yet, it’s starting to look like an October launch is becoming a greater possibility.

Third-Gen AirPods Will Only Arrive In 2021

The last time Apple updated its AirPods lineup was actually back in 2019 where they launched the second-gen model. We would have expected Apple to launch new AirPods this year, at least based on the company’s past release schedule, but it’s starting to look like that will not be happening.

In a report from Digitimes (paywall), they are claiming to have heard from their sources in Apple’s supply chain that the third-gen AirPods will only be arriving in the first half of 2021. It is unclear why Apple is taking this long to bring the third-gen model to the market, but given the success of the AirPods, it looks like customers are still more than happy to keep buying the existing models.

That being said, the third-gen model is expected to bring about some design changes. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had previously stated that the third-gen model will feature a design similar to the AirPods Pro, which is more of an in-ear design that will help the earphones fit more snugly in the ears of the wearer.

As for the second-gen AirPods Pro model, last we heard, it could potentially launch in 2021 as well, although possibly towards the end of 2021 or even early 2022.
