The Warren Meme Team Is Having Its Second Life on TikTok

If the election had ended last month, I’ll have remembered Democrats’ attempts to reach the youth on the internet as historically lame. Apparently not taking the hint from 2016’s “Pokemon GO to the polls” gaffe, Democratic strategists forced the memes on the internet, and the internet struck back with a savage pillory…

Razer Seiren Mini Desktop Microphone Announced

If you’re looking for a microphone to either do some podcasting, record music, play games, or simply video chat, then you might be interested to learn that Razer has actually announced a new microphone in the form of the Razer Seiren Mini, which is essentially a smaller version of the company’s Seiren microphone.

In terms of design, it doesn’t look anything like the larger Seiren, but according to Razer, they claim that despite its diminutive size, the Seiren Mini is capable of “punching above its weight”. It features a supercardioid pickup pattern that will focus mostly on what’s in front of it, so it makes it ideal for vocals if you don’t want any background sounds to be picked up by the microphone.

The microphone also features USB connectivity which means that users won’t have to deal with audio interfaces and XLR cables. There is also a built-in shock mount that should help deal with vibrations. We haven’t tested it out for ourselves yet so we can’t speak to the microphone’s quality, but given that it is priced at $50, which is half the price of the Razer Seiren X, it makes it a steal for anyone who wants a microphone that’s better than the ones built into their laptops or webcams.

YouTube Wants To Take On Amazon By Developing Its Own Shopping Platform

Following the changes YouTube has made to how ads are served and how content creators can earn from these ads, many creators are no longer solely relying on YouTube to make a living. Many are instead using platforms like Amazon where they can get a commission from products being sold by using their referral links.

Obviously this means that products purchased through Amazon means that YouTube gets nothing in the process, but this is something that the company wants to change. According to a report from Bloomberg, YouTube is apparently looking to challenge Amazon by leveraging its platform to create a shopping network of sorts.

What this means is that instead of viewers clicking on a product and being taken away from YouTube and to another platform like Amazon, viewers can instead shop for a product directly through these videos. Presumably this would give creators a cut as well for listing products that can be purchased through YouTube videos.

It also seems that there is an additional upside where content creators can look at the data in their videos to see how well these products perform in terms of sale, which in turn could allow them to fine tune what kind of products they want to advertise to generate more money for themselves. We’re not sure when YouTube will launch this on a wider scale, but until then, take it with a grain of salt.

Potential Apple Silicon Mac Model Numbers Revealed In Database

Apple’s iPhone event will probably largely focus on the iPhone, and as such, if you were hoping for details surrounding Apple’s upcoming computers that will be powered by the Apple Silicon, you might have to wait until November. However, it seems that it could be worth the wait as a bunch of model numbers have been leaked.

This is according to a report from Consomac who spotted these model numbers at the Eurasian Economic Commission’s database, which has in the past proven to be pretty reliable at predicting new products from the company. There are quite a number of Apple models spotted, some of which are new, and some of which are old.

As pointed out by 9to5Mac, the old model numbers include A2147, A2158, and A2182, which haven’t been released yet but were actually spotted last year. The main difference is that these models have been updated from macOS Catalina to Big Sur. The new model numbers also include A2337 and A2338, which cover laptops, and A2348, A2438, and A2439 which refer to desktops.

There are so many model numbers, but it is possible that these model numbers are simply variants of a couple of products. It is anyone’s guess as to which computers they might be referring to, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

Apple To Remove All Chargers From Its Entire iPhone Lineup

It has been rumored that Apple is expected to not bundle accessories with its iPhone 12 like the EarPods and the power adapter. However, a tweet by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has revealed that this will not only apply to the iPhone 12, but it is also expected to be applied to Apple’s already available iPhones.

This means that it will include the recently launched iPhone SE, which according to Gurman could see the packaging shrink considerably. Apple is also expected to start bundling USB-C to Lightning cables instead of USB-A to Lightning. This move has been somewhat criticized by many who feel that it is unfair for Apple to make such a decision while maintaining its prices.

One could argue that in a way, this keeps with Apple’s ethos about trying to be a greener company. As it stands, we already own many power adapters so there’s really no need for yet another one. At the same time, we get the frustration felt by many because it means that for some, they will need to have to go out and buy a new power adapter, which will cost them more money than what they’re already paying for the iPhone.

Either way we’ll have to wait and see how Apple plans to justify this move, if at all.

Live from Apple’s virtual 2020 iPhone event

Apple’s big iPhone event is finally here – virtual, which is to be expected these day. This is already the second virtual event Apple has hosted this fall, following one in September at which it revealed the Apple Watch Series 6 and a new iPad Air. This time around, we’re going to see what the iPhone 12 looks like, as well as how many colors and sizes it comes in.

There’s also supposed to be plenty of other news, including a new smaller HomePod mini, maybe an updated Apple TV, possibly a number of different headphone products and more. Will we get our first glance at the first shipping ARM-based Mac to use Apple’s in-house processors? Probably not, but maybe!

We’re going to be following along live and offering commentary below, and you can also tune in live to the video stream right here. Everything gets underway at 10 AM PT/ 1 PM ET.

The Apple news I’m most excited about today won’t get mentioned on stage

I’m excited about today’s Apple event not because of the products they’ll announce. It’s not because there’ll be a new family of iPhone 12 products, not because there’ll be a new HomePod. It’s not even because there’ll be a few new iPhone colors, colors we’ve not seen in an iPhone ever before! I’m excited about what’ll happen behind the scenes. … Continue reading
