Thermostats have been around for decades, and for the most part they were largely functional and you didn’t really give too much thought about it. However, when Nest first introduced their smart thermostat with its circular design, it started to make many think that maybe thermostats could stand to be redesigned.
That being said, Google is now back with its latest Nest Thermostat which we think shows an improvement in design over the previous models, where it seems to come across as a lot cleaner and sleeker than ever.
For the most part, the new Nest Thermostat will come with the same smarts as its predecessors. This includes the ability to set Quick Schedules that lets users set different temperatures for different times of the day. There’s also the inclusion of a Savings Finder which will use the Nest’s smarts to try and find ways to help you save energy in your home.
The new Nest Thermostat will also come with Google’s Soli radar technology that detects motion, so that it knows if you’re home or if you’re out. This means that if you’re out, then the thermostat will not bother to keep your home cool/hot, which saves you energy. Google claims that the new Nest Thermostat is easy to install and will take you just 30 minutes to setup.
