Google Will Be Opening Its First Retail Store This Summer

One of the ways Apple sells its customers on their products is through their retail stores. The store allows customers to try pretty much every Apple product so that they know what they’re getting before buying it. With Google’s products, you sometimes have to take a leap of faith based on what you see and read online.

To Google’s credit, a lot of their stuff is pretty good but in case you’re the type that likes to try before they buy, you’ll be pleased to learn that Google is getting into retail. The company has announced that they will be launching their first-ever physical retail store in New York. Google has had popup booths in the past, but the launch of their New York store would make it their first permanent location.

According to Google, “We’ll have experts on hand to help visitors get the most out of their device, such as troubleshooting an issue, fixing a cracked Pixel screen or helping with installations. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a longtime Pixel user, are curious about our Nest displays or want to participate in one of the how-to workshops we’ll offer throughout the year — our team will be able to provide you with help that’s specific and personalized to your needs.”

The store will be located at Chelsea as part of Google’s campus where their New York HQ is located and will be opening in the summer. The company did not mention if there are plans to open up more stores, but presumably it will depend on how successful this one is.

Twitter’s Verification Program Is Open Once Again

Following a suspension of their verification program last year, it was recently rumored that the program would be making its return this week. Sure enough, the rumors panned out because Twitter has since announced that their verification program has been relaunched with users being able to submit requests to be verified.

For those who are unfamiliar with the verification system, basically this is where Twitter will verify that you are who you say you are, like if you’re the CEO of a business, or if you’re a politician in your country, an athlete, a journalist, and so on. The idea is that verified accounts will make it easier for people to believe that the tweets you’re making are indeed coming from you.

In addition to relaunching the program, Twitter has also announced that they will be making it easier for users to submit their request to be verified. Users will now be able to submit their requests from the Twitter app itself. Of course, submitting a request doesn’t mean that you’ll get verified, it’s not a guarantee.

Users will need to choose the category that they fall under, like an influencer, government official, journalist, and so on, as well as submit various forms of identity so that Twitter can prove that it is you who is making the submission. Even then, like we said, there’s no guarantee, but you can always give it a shot.
