Microsoft Teams Now Available For Family And Friends

Microsoft Teams is the company’s answer to Slack, which for those unfamiliar is a chat space designed for the enterprise. However, it seems that Microsoft is hoping that more non-enterprise users might be keen on using its Teams platform because the company has announced that it will now be open to friends and family.

Microsoft actually previewed the personal version of Teams back in 2020, but it looks like it is finally available for all. In terms of features, it will be more or less the same as the enterprise version of Teams. Users will be able to chat, make video calls, share calendars, locations, and files quickly and easily.

If you’ve ever used a messenger service like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Discord, and so on, then this shouldn’t be too different. It will also be available across mobile devices including iOS and Android, as well as the web and desktop. What’s interesting about this is that Microsoft still has Skype which is meant for consumers.

With Teams now opening up for personal use, one has to wonder about the fate of Skype, although for now it seems that Microsoft will be keeping Skype around. If you’re interested in the personal features of Teams, then head on over to Microsoft’s website for the download.

AirTags Can Be Used As An NFC Trigger For iOS Shortcuts

One of the features of iOS is Siri Shortcuts. For non-iOS users, Siri Shortcuts offers a way for iOS users to automate their mobile devices. It can be programmed to do certain things after an event has been triggered, for example putting your iPhone on low battery mode once it hits a certain percent.

Now it seems that Siri Shortcuts and the AirTags have a pretty cool synergy that you could be interested in checking out. According to a report from iCulture, it has been discovered that the AirTags can be used as an NFC trigger for Shortcuts. This means that when an AirTag is tapped by an iPhone, it can be used to trigger an event.

For example, there might be certain tasks that you’d rather not automate and instead of automating it, you can use the AirTag to trigger the event like a switch. This might be useful if you’ve equipped your home with HomeKit compatible smart appliances, so tapping an AirTag could trigger multiple devices at once.

We’re not sure if this was Apple’s intention for the AirTag. The use of NFC was meant to help someone who found an AirTag to pull up contact information about the owner, but hey, if it can be used for more than just that, why not?
