Intel revealed new additions to its 11th-gen mobile processor lineup as part of this year’s virtual Computex show. The processors are based on Intel’s Evo platform and feature integrated Iris Xe graphics and WiFi 6. The company also announced a 5G modem for connectivity on future Windows machines.
Google has never been one to be associated with privacy in a positive light but it has admittedly been making strides in improving that image. Perhaps it is in part due to the scrutiny and legal sanctions the company has been slapped with over the years and also in part due to the popularity Apple enjoys over its championing of … Continue reading

Throughout the years, the space agencies of various countries have sent rovers into space where they are used to help scout the surfaces of the places they land on, whether it be the moon or other planets like Mars. For the most part, these rovers look like miniaturized four wheel drives, but Japan could have a different approach.
According to a report from The Bytes, Japan’s Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) have announced that they will be teaming up with the likes of Sony, Doshisha University, and toy maker Tomy, to create a ball-shaped robot that they plan to send into space where it will eventually be used to explore the moon.
The robot will be initially shaped like a ball while not in use, but once it reaches the surface, it will transform into its “full” configuration that can capture images of the moon’s surface. The teamup of the companies involved is actually a bit surprising, but this is a collaboration that started way back in 2016.
Sony will be providing the control technology for the robot, while Doshisha University and Tomy worked together to help miniaturize the design. It’s an interesting concept and could help with future missions where more robots could be brought on board flights, especially if they could shrink themselves down to be more portable. The robot is expected to launch in 2022 so we’ll have to wait a bit to see how it turns out.

Say your iPhone dropped into water like at a canal, what are you going to do? You could call it a day and chalk it up as a loss, or you could dive in and try to find it. However, the latter might be a bit dangerous, so a friend of app developer Frederik Riedel came up with a pretty clever idea – MagSafe.
The iPhone 12 series comes with support for MagSafe which is Apple’s wireless charging solution. According to the story told by Riedel, the friend attempted to go into the canal and waded through 3 feet of mud with no success, and later came up with the idea to use a magnet to try and fish the phone out.

They attached a magnet to a fishing rod and line and it was lowered into the same area of the canal that the iPhone fell into, and sure enough, it managed to hook onto the magnets on the iPhone which would have been used for MagSafe. The phone, apart from being a bit dirty, was still working fine and even had a full charge despite being underwater for hours.
While it was recently reported that MagSafe might pose a low risk for those with implanted medical devices, it seems that in this instance, it proved to be very useful. So the next time you lose your iPhone 12, this could be one way to fish it out of the water.

As is pretty much the case with all gaming controllers, the Sony PS5 DualSense controller comes with vibration built into it. This is designed to help provide more haptic feedback when gaming and helps make the gaming experience a bit more immersive. It can also be used to give players notifications like when they’re being hit, they’re low on health, and so on.
However, it turns out that the PS5 DualSense controllers can actually be used to buzz along to music. This is according to a report from The Verge who stumbled across a Reddit post from last year where with a few tweaks, you could actually get the controller to buzz along to your favorite tunes.
We’re not sure if this was by design, but the user who discovered it did so by accident. According to u/Dino1482, “Sorry if this was already discovered, but when I plugged my dualsense controller into my PC, I noticed my speaker output changed to the controller. I thought this was odd, so I decided to play music from Spotify, and the dualsense essentially acted as a subwoofer, picking up the bass and vibrating along with the music. Depending on the song, the vibrations dynamically shifted from left to right.”
If this sounds like a fun mod that you wouldn’t mind checking out, The Verge has a short tutorial that you can follow to set it up for yourself.

Wear OS by Google got a fair bit of positive media coverage a few weeks ago thanks to Google’s announcements at its I/O 2021 developer’s conference. But while the software is getting a massive upgrade, at least later this year or maybe even next year, it remains the case that all but one Wear OS smartwatch are running older Qualcomm … Continue reading
It might not be as big a name in tech as Google or Apple or Microsoft or in social networking like Facebook but it’s hard to argue that Amazon may have actually trumped them all. Best known for its e-tailer business, Amazon’s empire actually covers a whole range of industries and there seems to be no stopping its ambitions even … Continue reading
