It has long been both an insider joke as well as a challenge that the game Doom, at least the original one by id Software from 1993, can run on anything that qualifies as a computer. Of course, the latter can be defined as anything that has a microprocessor, which includes most non-trivial consumer electronics these days. Smart appliances are … Continue reading
Despite its inherent character limits, it’s almost too easy to get roped into Twitter threads you never had any intention to be part of. Whether as a reply to someone or just as a random action, getting “@mentioned” can lead down a slippery slope that can even end up in harassment. Twitter currently doesn’t have any functionality to fix this … Continue reading

Razer has announced the new Razer Blade 14, a thin (0.66-inch thick, 3.92 Lbs) and compact gaming laptop powered by the powerful AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX processor.
The Ryzen 9 5900HX (8-core, 16-threads) can be classified as a ~45W TDP processor (35-54W in fact), but we’re unsure what actual TDP Razer aimed for with this design. The integrated vapor-chamber cooling will do everything it can to dissipate the heat, but the maximum CPU+GPU configuration will, without a doubt, push any cooling system to its limits.
There’s a maximum of 16GB of RAM soldered to the motherboard, and that’s only the only choice. While this is probably fine for gaming, a 32GB option would have attracted more creative-type users who like using gaming rigs for design and video work.
The 14-inch offers an excellent option for people who want the maximum graphics power per cubic inch. This laptop’s volume is considerably smaller than the Blade 15 but offers excellent CPU performance.
The display’s format is 16:9, and people can opt for an FHD 144Hz or a QHD 165Hz panel. The QHD probably has higher quality, and Razer says that it can reproduce 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, which is a big deal for designers (and gamers too, but not as much).
On the surface, the industrial design looks every bit like a smaller version of the Razer Blade 15, which means that the build quality is excellent, and everything that you liked about the Blade 15 is there.
Inside, there a 61Wh battery which sounds a bit low: some laptops may have 75Wh+. But for gaming activities, you’ll want to be plugged in anyway. If you’re unplugged a lot, pick the FHD display + RTX 3060 GPU, as this combo will draw a lot less power.
The number of ports is pretty decent, and most people should have what they need, except perhaps for an Ethernet port – WIFI is excellent these days, but sometimes it’s all about reducing the latency. Of course, there’s no support for Thunderbolt because that’s an Intel technology.
Qty | Type |
---|---|
1x | Proprietary power connector |
2x | USB-A 3.2 |
2x | USB-C 3.2 (PD, DisplayPort) |
1x | Full-size HDMI |
1x | 3.5mm audio |
1x | Kensington lock |
Razer made it simple to choose which SKU you want: the one you can afford! The gaming performance increases with the price. All models come with the same CPU, RAM, and 1TB SSD but the display and GPUs are different.
- $1799 | FHD 144Hz display / RTX 3060
- $2199 | QHD 165Hz display / RTX 3070
- $2799 | QHD 165Hz display / RTX 3080
There you go, this seems like a great product, and we bet that the RTX 3080 version has crazy graphics performance “per Lbs” – and maybe we’ll have the opportunity to show it.

If you’ve ever opened your Photos app on your iPhone, you might see a ton of photos you don’t recognize. This is because all photos saved go to Photos, like those taken by your camera, those saved from Safari, photos sent and received from WhatsApp and other messenger applications.
Basically it can get confusing, but iOS 15 will help make things a bit more organized and give you better management over your photos. This is because in iOS 15, the Photos app will now tell you where your photos originate from. When you tap on the Info button on a photo, it will pull up additional information like where the photo was saved from, like in the images above which show that the photo in question was saved from Safari.
It will also show you additional information about the photo like the date and time it was saved to your Photos app, along with the location. This information is useful because as MacRumors points out, they act as identifying tags meaning that you can look for photos easier that way. So for example if you want to erase photos you saved from the web, you can search for it by using the “Safari” keyword and it should pull up all photos saved from the browser.

Apple’s newly launched AirTag accessory is great for tracking objects like your keys or your bag, but tracking your wallet? Unfortunately that’s going to be almost impossible, or at least that was the case until Nomad decided to create a new accessory called Card that basically fits the AirTag inside of your wallet.
Now, given the size and shape of the AirTag, the Card accessory isn’t going to magically shrink it down. Instead, what it does is that it creates a holder for the AirTag to fit inside that is more uniform in shape. According to Nomad, “Card for AirTag has slightly smaller outside dimensions than a standard credit card. Even though the AirTag is thicker than a credit card, Card for AirTag should fit in most credit card slots without issue.”
It’s an interesting proposition for an accessory although how well it will fit remains to be seen since we haven’t tried it for ourselves, and since different people keep different things in their wallets, for some it might be too tight of a fit, but for others it might fit just fine, so it’s something you’ll need to take a chance on.
However, assuming you get it to fit, it could be a useful way of keeping track of your wallet or purse. Card for Nomad is priced at $20 and is currently available for pre-order and is expected to ship out this September.

Twitter lets users mention each other in tweets as a way for users to include other users in their conversations or to get their attention. However, this can be annoying and in some cases, could be used for harassment. Oddly enough short of blocking the person who mentioned you, there’s no way to unmention yourself.
The good news is that could change soon. This is because according to a post by Twitter’s privacy designer Dominic Camozzi, it has been revealed that Twitter is working on a way for users to unmention themselves. From the screenshot of the UI, it seems that this will be a feature in the notifications section where when you are alerted to a mention, you will also have the ability to unmention yourself as well.
Sometimes you want to talk, and sometimes you just … don’t.
Check out these early concepts that could help control unwanted attention on Twitter.

It will also be available from the main tweet itself where users can click on the more info menu and then select the option to unmention themselves from the tweet. According to Twitter, when you unmention yourself, it will not notify the person who mentioned you in the first place, similar to when you untag yourself from photos.
Camozzi also revealed that Twitter is working on how when someone you don’t follow mentions you, you have the option of making it so that that person can never mention you again. There is currently no word on when this feature will be released to the public, but it sounds like it will be pretty useful to have.
