You Can Now Post Photos To Instagram From Your Desktop

If you’ve ever wanted to share a photo on Instagram, you would have to upload it through the Instagram app on your phone. There were some workarounds, but nothing official. Now, back in May it was reported that Instagram was looking to change that and now it looks like that change has arrived.

According to several user reports, it appears that they are now able to upload photos to Instagram directly from the web version of the platform. We’re not sure how widespread this feature is, but it isn’t available for us when we checked at this time of posting, so either Instagram has limited it or it is still in the stages of rolling out.

However, it should be noted that Instagram still views this as a test, meaning that it isn’t a full-fledged feature yet, so there could still be some changes made to it further down the road, or maybe Instagram could just end up killing the feature entirely (hopefully that won’t be the case). That being said, it is a useful feature to have and professionals might appreciate it.

This is because for some users who use Instagram as their portfolio, the ability to edit their photos or videos on desktop and uploading it directly would save them a lot of time. It would also be easier to manage as opposed to fiddling on a phone all day.

Apple Will Make It Easier To Erase A Stolen iPhone

Apple has security measures in place that helps people deal with their stolen/lost iPhones that attempts to lower their value for those attempting to resell it. However, it was recently reported that over in Brazil, iPhone thieves weren’t stealing iPhones to resell, but rather to access the banking apps on the phone and steal money from their victims.

Now, like we said, Apple already has tools that lets users remotely lock and wipe their devices, but according to a report from Brazilian newspaper, Folha de S.Paulo, Apple (and Google) have told the country’s consumer protection regulator that they will be making it easier to access their services and to erase a stolen smartphone.

Both companies did not detail what they will be doing exactly to make it “easier”. In its current iteration, it’s actually not that hard to access Apple’s Find My network and to report a device as lost/stolen and to lock and wipe it remotely. All users need is access to a computer. Perhaps Apple could be considering setting up some kind of hotline so that users can at least report the incident and have someone at Apple erase their devices remotely on their behalf.

Do note that’s just speculation on our part so what the exact process will be like remains to be seen.

iPhone 13 Expected In Third Week Of September

Are you looking forward to the next iPhone? If you are, then you might be interested to learn that the handset is expected to launch this September. To be more specific, it is expected to launch in the third week of September, maybe as soon as the 14th of the month, at least that’s what Wedbush analyst Dan Ives believes.

To be fair, a launch in September is not entirely out of the question. This is because for many years now, Apple has typically picked September as the month of choice when it comes to launching new iPhones. The company has delayed it a couple of times to October, like they did with the iPhone 12 last year, but generally speaking it takes place in September.

In fact, there have been rumors suggesting that Apple would return to the September schedule for this year. The iPhone 13 lineup is expected to consist of four phones – the iPhone 13 mini, the iPhone 13, the iPhone 13 Pro, and the iPhone 13 Pro Max. If analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is to be believed, this year could also be the last year where we will see a “mini” iPhone.

Needless to say that since Apple hasn’t confirmed any of this, it’s probably best to take it with a pinch of salt for now, but seeing as we’re approaching July, it’s only a few more months until we find out.

Windows 11 Will Be Able To Run Android Apps

Want to run Android apps on your computer? Previously, you might need to buy a Chromebook, but that will change in Windows 11. In an announcement by Microsoft and Amazon, both companies will be partnering with each other where in Windows 11, you will be able to access the Amazon Appstore and download and use Android apps.

This will be accomplished through another partnership with Intel, where Microsoft will use Intel’s Bridge technology to help make this happen. In a way, we can’t say we’re too surprised. After all, Apple’s M1 Mac computers can run iOS apps, although Apple had originally designed it as a bridge of sorts while more Apple Silicon apps are being developed.

According to Palanidaran Chidambaram, Director of the Amazon Appstore and Cross-Screen Technology, “Today we offer a broad selection of mobile apps in our Amazon Appstore, available across Fire TV, Fire Tablets, and Android devices that our customers use and enjoy every day. With this announcement, Amazon Appstore developers will now have the opportunity to make their Android apps available to hundreds of millions of Windows customers.”

We’re not sure what the experience is going to be like since we haven’t tried it out for ourselves, but it could go a long way in making Windows even more useful. That being said, it should be noted that the app availability in Amazon’s Appstore and Google Play Store are different, so you may or may not be able to find the app you want.

Windows 11 Will Be A Free Upgrade For Windows 10 Users

In the past, upgrading to major versions of operating systems involved money, where users had to decide if the new features are worth paying money for. However, it seems that Microsoft will be taking a page out of Apple’s playbook because it looks like Windows 11 will be a free upgrade for those coming from Windows 10.

So, how do you know if your PC is eligible for the free upgrade? Basically your PC should be running a genuine copy of Windows 10 for starters, and secondly you will also need to meet the minimum hardware requirements. This includes a 64-bit CPU, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage.

These are actually pretty low requirements and if you bought a computer in the last few years, there’s almost a guarantee that you should be eligible for the upgrade. For those who want to check, you can download Microsoft’s PC Health Check app which will run a diagnostics on your computer to determine if it is eligible for the upgrade.

According to Microsoft, Windows 11 is expected to roll out later this year during the holiday season and continue into 2022, so if your PC is eligible, then this might be an upgrade worth keeping an eye out for.

How The New Infrastructure Deal Could Lead To More Fees and Tolls

Letting private companies lease public infrastructure can go wrong. Just look at Chicago’s parking meters.

Is Microsoft Saying Your PC Can’t Run Windows 11? You’re Not Alone

Microsoft recently announced that Windows 11 will be a free upgrade for those coming from Windows 10, assuming they meet the somewhat bare minimum hardware specs of a 64-bit processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage. Microsoft even introduced a tool that lets you check if your PC is eligible for the update.

However, if you downloaded the update and you’re getting an error that says “This PC can’t run Windows 11”, then know that you’re not alone, but as it turns out, there might be some hidden requirements which could be the reason behind this message. This is according to The Verge’s Tom Warren who tweeted that if you get this error message, your computer might need a TPM 2.0 chip and have Secure Boot enabled in your BIOS.

However, based on the various replies to Warren’s tweet, many people do seem to have TPM 2.0 and secure boot enabled, but they are still getting the error message. Even those with Microsoft Surface devices, which of all devices should have been designed with an upgrade path to Windows 11 in mind, are returning the same error messages.

We’re not sure if this is a bug with the app, but as some have said, Microsoft had similar requirements for Windows 10 but it still installed just fine, and that maybe these requirements are for those in enterprise or for Windows 11 ready PCs, but either way, we’ll have to wait and see.
