This Robot Performing Parkour Is The Coolest Thing We’ve Ever Seen

Boston Dynamics has made a name for themselves over the years through its robots like Spot. The company has indeed come a long way since then, developing new robots with new skills and abilities, and in a recent video they put out, it shows the humanoid Atlas robot performing a series of parkour movements.

We have to say that this is probably one of the coolest things we’ve ever seen. This is because the way the robots pull off the moves looks almost perfect and human-like. Sure, they aren’t quite as graceful compared to humans who do the same thing, but for a robot that has to mimic and learn what a human does, it is downright fascinating.

According to Boston Dynamics, “Parkour is the perfect sandbox for the Atlas team at Boston Dynamics to experiment with new behaviors. In this video our humanoid robots demonstrate their whole-body athletics, maintaining its balance through a variety of rapidly changing, high-energy activities. Through jumps, balance beams, and vaults, we demonstrate how we push Atlas to its limits to discover the next generation of mobility, perception, and athletic intelligence.”

If you have a few minutes to spare, you can check out the videos above that show the robot in action, as well as a behind-the-scenes to understand how Boston Dynamics went about developing them.

Google’s Pixel 5a Is Here For Just $449

Google’s Pixel phones have over the years seen an increase in price where they kind of stopped being flagship phones you could buy for half the price of a regular flagship. Maybe that has put some people off from buying the phone, and to help counter that, Google started releasing “A” series of phones that are cheaper.

For 2021, Google has officially announced the Pixel 5a 5G. We have been hearing about this phone for a while, so it’s good to see that it has finally been launched. It is priced at $449 which isn’t exactly budget, but it is still more affordable than some of the higher-end flagships, plus it’s also a Pixel phone so there’s the added advantage if you’re looking for an unadulterated Google experience.

In terms of specs, the Pixel 5a 5G will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset under the hood. It will be accompanied by 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and it will also sport a 6.34-inch 1080p OLED display, making it marginally larger than its predecessor, the Pixel 4a 5G.

The Pixel 5a 5G will also feature a dual camera setup with support for features like Portrait Light, Cinematic Pan, and Night Side. That being said, it should be noted that the Pixel 5a 5G is going to be limited in terms of availability. It is currently only being planned for release in the US and Japan, so those living in other parts of the world might not be able to get their hands on it.

AirTag Could Have Deterred Motorcycle Thieves From Completely Disappearing With It

Originally designed to help people keep track of keys and bags, it seems that Apple’s AirTag is now becoming a popular choice amongst bike owners to help prevent their bikes from being stolen, or if in the event that it is stolen, will make it easier for them to locate.

This is the case with Brandon, a Renton, Washington resident who claimed that his bike had been stolen earlier Tuesday morning. This isn’t the first time that Brandon has experienced motorcycle theft, so when the AirTag was launched, he bought one and hid it inside his motorcycle as a precaution.

It turns out that his decision paid off because when he realized his bike was missing, he quickly tracked it down using the Find My app. He eventually located the bike where for some reason, the thieves had abandoned it. He called the police, filed a report, and recovered his bike without any incident.

It is unclear why the thieves might have abandoned the bike, but Brandon speculates that perhaps the AirTag had notified the thieves to its presence, and it might have spooked them which is why they abandoned it. For those unfamiliar, to prevent stalking, Apple built in some safety features into the AirTag where it will notify users if an unknown AirTag is traveling with them.

Pixel 6 charger will also be missing from the box

It was a rather controversial move for both users and some government regulators, but the trend of removing the charging brick from smartphone boxes might become standard soon. Apple started it, and Samsung followed suit after mocking it. Google will soon be next, apparently, as the company made it publicly known that the Pixel 6 won’t ship with a charger … Continue reading
