Sonos Might Be interested In Developing Their Own Voice Assistant

Smart speakers like those made by Apple, Amazon, and Google all have digital assistants built into them. Sonos’ speakers on the other hand rely on other voice assistants from the likes of Amazon or Google, but it seems that the company could be toying with the idea of maybe making their own voice assistant.

This is according to a report from VoiceBot.ai who spotted a survey that Sonos had sent out to its customers. In a post on Reddit by u/EdmundFitzgerald29 who shared a screenshot of the email, the company is thinking of creating a digital assistant that can be triggered by “Hey Sonos” and perform similar functions as other digital assistants.

The post reads, “Sonos sent a survey around a few weeks ago asking for feedback on a voice assistant they’re building/thinking about. Would imagine the product is somewhat close to being ready. IIRC the trigger they were thinking about was “Hey Sonos” and they planned for it to manage speaker playback (grouping, volume, etc) as well as find music to play.”

That being said, do keep in mind that this is a survey and doesn’t necessarily indicate that such a feature is being developed. It is possible that Sonos could be entertaining the idea, but whether or not it becomes an actual feature remains to be seen.

LG’s 32-inch 4K OLED UltraFine Display Is Now Available For Order

A good majority of monitors and displays out there still use LCD panels. This is because LCD is cheaper and easier to produce compared to OLED, especially at larger sizes. However, if you prefer having an OLED monitor, then you might want to check out LG’s 32-inch 4K OLED UltraFine display, which is now available for order.

According to LG, this UltraFine display has been designed for creative professionals in mind. What they mean by this is that it will feature higher levels of color accuracy compared to more standard monitors. This is important for creative professionals like photographers or videographers who might need color accuracy when it comes to editing their work.

Some of the features of the monitor include support for HDR10, 99% coverage of Adobe’s RGB and DCI-P3 color gamuts, a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, a 60Hz refresh rate, 250 nits peak brightness, and a 1ms response time. It also features support for USB-C which means that hooking it up to a laptop like the MacBook Air or MacBook Pro shouldn’t be an issue.

There is also support for 90W pass-through charging so it will be able to charge your laptop at the same time. Other connectivity options include one HDMI port, two DisplayPort 1.4 ports, three USB-A ports, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The monitor is priced at $3,999 and is available for order at B&H.

Bethesda Could Be Looking To Bring Quake Back

If you have been gaming since the 1990s, chances are you might have played Quake. ALong with titles like Wolfenstein and Doom, Quake was one of the quintessential FPS games back in the day, and now it looks like Bethesda could be interested in bringing the game back.

This is according to a sighting by PCGamer in which they spotted mention of a possible remaster of the original game in Bethesda’s QuakeCon 2021 schedule. The event, which is currently set for the 19th of August, mentioned a listing for a “Let’s Talk Quake” event on Saturday morning. There was also mention of a “revitalized” version of the original game released in 1996.

According to the description, “Quake is back, in this special stream John Linneman from Digital Foundry talks to Jerk Gustafsson of Machine Games about the title’s iconic legacy and what it meant to both of them. The pair will also discuss the additional content Machine Games have contributed to this revitalized edition.”

The listing has since been amended but not before it was archived. It is unclear what this could mean, but some have speculated that Bethesda could be interested in re-releasing the game. The publication notes that “revitalized” doesn’t necessarily mean a remaster, so we’ll just have to wait and see. Until Bethesda makes an official announcement, try not to get your hopes up just yet.

Pixel Fold reference in Android 12 code hints at Pixel 6 connection

Samsung’s recently concluded event once again brought foldable devices into the limelight. Now more affordable and a little bit more durable, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 are being positioned to help take foldable phones to the mainstream market. Of course, that would require that other manufacturers also jump on the train, and, surprisingly, Google might … Continue reading

Pixel 5a announcement might finally happen next week

The Pixel 6 could be the most exciting Google phone to come since the original Pixel in 2016. Before that debuts, however, the Pixel 5a will make its way to the market first. Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls Will Be Coming To Apple Arcade

Konami’s Castlevania is probably one of the more popular and more recognizable RPG games around. It was popular enough for Netflix to commission several seasons worth of animation, so it’s not surprising that it has also found its way onto mobile. Now it looks like Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls has been announced for Apple Arcade.

For those who are wondering why does this game sound familiar, it is because Castlevania: Grimoire of Souls was actually originally announced in 2018. It was eventually soft launched in Canada in 2019 before it was delisted, which had some wondering about the fate of the game. In case you were interested in trying it, it looks like Apple will be bringing it back.

However, since the game is only on Apple Arcade, you will need to have a subscription to play it. This might seem like a bad thing, but since games on Apple Arcade are free of ads and also microtransactions, it will be less annoying and you can just focus on the game itself instead of worrying whether or not you should spend money on in-app purchases.

There is no word on when the game will be launching, and the listing on Apple Arcade simply says it is coming soon. In the meantime, you can check out some of the game’s footage in the video above.

The Lamborghini Countach Is Back As A Hybrid Supercar

When we think of supercars, we think of cars that guzzle gas like nobody’s business. For a while, it seemed like the makers of these supercars were resistant to the idea of creating electric models, but over the years, it seems that many of them are coming around. In fact, Lamborghini has recently unveiled their new Countach hybrid supercar.

For those unfamiliar, the Lamborghini Countach was one of the company’s most iconic car designs back in the 1970s when it first made its debut. It featured sharp flat edges that made it look rather “fierce”, compared to the more rounded edges we’re seeing in today’s car designs, but it looks like Lamborghini is bringing it back with a new hybrid model.

The new car is a limited edition model called the Countach LPI 800-4 and is being released in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the original release. Under the hood, the new Countach will feature an aspirated V12 engine with a 48V electric motor, and its thermal engine is capable of putting out 780cv (around 574kW for those who are curious), while the electric motor will put out 34cv.

According to Lamborghini, this means that the car will be able to go from 0-100kmph in 2.8 seconds while also being able to hit a top speed of 355kmph. Speaking about the new Countach, Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann says, “It upholds the Lamborghini tradition of looking forward, of exploring new design and technology avenues while celebrating the DNA of our brand.”
