Although Pokemon GO continues to be a popular game and money-maker for Niantic Labs, the mobile AR game developer hasn’t had much success with its other attempts are recreating that magic. The latest evidence of its failure is CATAN: World Explorers, the mobile AR recreation of a highly popular board game. While the heavyweight brand should have garnered interest and … Continue reading
Apple has officially released iOS 15. One of the main changes to iOS 15 is to the mobile Safari browser, where it will now support browser extensions. If this is something you’ve been looking forward to, then you might also be pleased to learn that password manager 1Password has released its extension for Safari.
For those unfamiliar, 1Password is a password manager that helps remember passwords and login information for websites and services. It can also help users automatically fill in those details when they’re browsing the web, and with its new Safari extension, it will be easier than before.
According to the developers of 1Password, “In-page suggestions allow you to access your items exactly where you need them. For sites that have complicated sign-in forms, we use our on-device machine learning to detect what’s happening and automatically fill the password for you. And if you use two-factor authentication, we automatically fill the codes, so you don’t need to copy them to your clipboard.”
To take advantage of the new extension, all you need to do is ensure that you have the latest version of 1Password on your mobile device, and iOS 15 installed, and you should be good to go, so go ahead and update your iPhone or iPad if you haven’t done so already.

Jesse Benton, who was convicted in a 2012 bribery plot and pardoned by the ex-president, has been charged again.
The age of video conferencing that begun last year has forced many people to re-evaluate not only their computers but also their rooms and home office setups. In addition to actually having a decent webcam, things like disorganized backgrounds and poor lighting add more concerns to already mentally stressed people. The former has been fixed by virtual backgrounds, which sometimes … Continue reading
A lot of attention is given to Samsung’s high-end and more expensive smartphones, which isn’t surprising since that is what the company’s marketing machinery tries to push to consumers’ consciousness anyway. There is, however, also a plethora of choices under Samsung’s name that address different markets and consumers with different needs and, most importantly, budgets. These are often left by … Continue reading
2022’s iPhone Will Finally Drop The Notch, Will Use Hole-Punch Display Instead
Posted in: Today's ChiliThe rumors about the iPhone 13 were right in which the notch was indeed made smaller, but it’s still there. For those hoping to see the notch go away for good, you could be in luck for 2022’s model. This is according to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who claims that the 2022 iPhones will ditch the notch.
However, don’t get too excited just yet because according to Kuo, while the iPhone 14 might drop the notch, the analyst believes that Apple will replace it with a hole-punch display instead, similar to what we’re seeing on other Android phones. We suppose this is less obvious compared to the notch, but it won’t be a true edge-to-edge display just yet.
Also, according to Kuo, for those hoping that 2022’s iPhones will see the return of Touch ID, apparently that will not be happening. The analyst claims that Apple is still apparently working on an in-display Touch ID solution, but apparently that will only debut in 2023’s iPhones, not next year’s models.
It is unclear why Apple is taking this long to implement the technology. Android phones with in-display fingerprint sensors have existed for several years now, so we’re not sure how much better or different Apple’s system is if they’re taking this long, but either way, don’t expect to see it anytime soon (or at all).

One of the great things about the Xbox controller is how versatile it is. Not only can you use it with the console (obviously), but thanks to its Bluetooth connectivity, you can also use it with other devices like smartphones, tablets, or your PC. However, switching between devices can be a bit troublesome.
The good news is that according to a tweet by James Shields, senior product planner at Xbox, it looks like Microsoft is working on a firmware update where users can double tap a button on the controller to switch between multiple devices. So instead of having to pair and unpair or go through settings, once your controllers are linked up to your devices, you can just double tap to move between them.
Demo of the new “double tap to switch devices” feature in action.

It should be noted that this is a feature that was previously only available on the Xbox Series X/S controllers, but this firmware update will bring it to older Xbox controllers like the Xbox One controllers with Bluetooth, Elite Series 2, and the Adaptive Controller (sorry Xbox 360 gamers).
The update was pushed out to Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha users last week, so hopefully it won’t be too long before the update finds its way to everyone else.

There have been rumors that Apple could be developing their own foldable iPhone, but when exactly will we be seeing this new mythical phone? According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, he believes that Apple could launch a foldable iPhone in 2024, which seems to be in line with an earlier report that suggested a foldable iPhone could be 2-3 years away at the earliest.
It’s interesting that Apple is looking to hop on board the foldable bandwagon, but given that Samsung is pretty much dominating the space at the moment, perhaps Apple wants in on that action as well. Samsung has been steadily growing its foldables portfolio, most recently with devices like the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3, the latter of which seems to be rather popular.
At the moment it’s anyone’s guess as to what the foldable iPhone could look like or what form factor it could adopt. Right now, the current form factors we’re seeing are devices that can transform into tablets, or phones that can be folded up to become even smaller, but maybe there could be a third option that we haven’t figured out yet.
In any case, 2024 is a very long time away so it’s most definitely too early to tell if this rumor will pan out, but what say you? Is a foldable iPhone something you might be interested in?

There are services like Spotify that offer users a free streaming tier if they don’t want to pay for Premium. It comes with some limitations and ads, but other than that, it’s free. Other services, like Apple Music, offer a free trial, after which users have to pay a subscription if they want to keep using the service.
Netflix, on the other hand, has never offered users a free tier before, but that is changing. The company has announced that they will now be offering users in Kenya a free streaming tier. There will not be ads, although it will be limited to mobile-only (Android), and according to Variety, only a quarter of Netflix’s catalogue will be available.
The idea here is to entice users and convince them that what Netflix has to offer is good enough for them to upgrade to a paid subscription to unlock everything. According to Netflix, “If you’ve never watched Netflix before — and many people in Kenya haven’t — this is a great way to experience our service. And if you like what you see, it’s easy to upgrade to one of our paid plans so you can enjoy our full catalog on your TV or laptop as well.”
It’s an interesting move by Netflix and we have to wonder if maybe this could lead to Netflix exploring more subscription options in the future. That being said, we’d like to remind you that this is only available for Kenya, the rest of the world will have to keep using and paying for Netflix the regular way.

If you want to access your email on an Apple device, the company does include email apps on its iPhone, iPad, and Mac computers. However, they also do have a web-based client for those who prefer using that. However, for the longest time ever, the web version has kind of been neglected, at least until earlier this year.
In June, Apple unveiled a redesign of the iCloud Mail interface. This would essentially bring the web interface closer to what users are familiar with on iPhones, iPads, and Mac, giving it a cleaner and more modern look. The good news is that if you’ve been looking forward to this feature and trying it out, it is now available to all.
Previously, the changes were in beta so not everyone could use it, but now that it is available to all, you should be able to see the new changes Apple made. You don’t have to do anything on your end, all you need to do is log into your iCloud account and you should be able to see it.
In addition to the new design, Apple has also rolled out other new features which includes Hide My Email and Custom Domains, features that Apple had previously announced at WWDC 2021 earlier in the year. This will be available to iCloud+ users, which are basically users who are currently paying for iCloud storage.
