Apple’s smallest iPad might not get quite as much attention as its bigger siblings, but today, Apple took the wraps off a completely redesigned iPad Mini. It’s got a bigger screen, a more powerful processor, and comes in a range of colors. The Mini is no longer the forgotten runt of the iPad family.
Ever since the iPad Pro was announced, it felt like Apple started to focus more on it and less on its other tablets, like the iPad mini which hasn’t gotten a proper refresh in a while. There have been rumors that the iPad mini could be seeing a massive redesign, and sure enough at Apple’s September 14 event, they have delivered.
As per the previous rumors, the iPad mini now looks like a mini version of the iPad Pro with flat edges all around. It is now offered in four new colors which includes purple, pink, starlight, and space grey.
The display has also been upsized where it will now sport an 8.3-inch screen but maintaining the same form factor that iPad mini fans have loved. Apple is also boasting the new chipset will offer 40% increased CPU performance and an 80% improvement on the GPU front, along with 2x faster machine learning that will allow it to support upcoming iPadOS 15 features like live translation.
Apple has also ditched the use of Lightning in favor of USB-C, which means that users can now connect various USB-C peripherals to the tablet much like the iPad Pro. The iPad mini will come with a set of stereo speakers, and will support the second-gen Apple Pencil. There will also be support for 5G connectivity with up to 3.5Gbps speeds.
While we’re not sure how many people actually take photos on their tablets, the cameras have been upgraded to a 12MP rear-facing camera with an f/1.8 aperture and True Tone flash, while the front-facing camera will have a 12MP ultra-wide sensor with support for Center Stage.
The new iPad mini will be priced starting at $499 and is available for order today and will be delivered to customers next week.

Apple’s iPad lineup consists of the top-of-the-line iPad Pro, then the iPad Air, the iPad mini, and the “regular” iPad which is an entry-level tablet for those looking to get into the iPad ecosystem. If you don’t need the highest-end iPad Pro, then you will be pleased to learn that Apple has since announced an update to the iPad lineup.
The new iPad will be powered by the A13 chipset, which is admittedly two generations behind already, but given that this particular model is designed to be cheap, it’s understandable. Apple is also claiming that the use of the A13 will make this model 20% faster than its predecessor. They also took a dig at Google by claiming that the A13 is 6x faster compared to Android tablets.
In addition to the faster chipset, Apple has also improved on the camera for better low-light photography, which is great, but the front-facing camera has also been given a huge upgrade to a 12MP ultra-wide sensor and will now support an iPad Pro feature – Center Stage. For those unfamiliar, this is where the front-facing camera can “track” the subject to keep them centered.
The new, refreshed iPad will also sport a True Tone display, will support the Smart Keyboard, and also the Apple Pencil. The tablet will be priced starting at $329 for 64GB and is available for order today and is expected to begin shipping out to customers next week.

All phones come with preinstalled software. Some of these apps are essential, like messages, the phone dialer, a built-in browser, and so on. However, sometimes to try and differentiate their phones from the competition, Android handset manufacturers usually include their own custom software.
This is meant to make their phones more appealing with exclusive apps and features that other handsets won’t have, but more often than not, these apps come across feeling like bloatware. After all, if you needed it you could probably easily find an alternative as opposed to having it forced upon you.
Not to mention these apps do take up some space in your phone’s storage, so if you’re trying to squeeze out as much storage as possible, here’s how you can delete some of those preinstalled apps.
Deleting Preinstalled Apps Through Settings
One of the ways to delete preinstalled apps would be to go to your phone’s Settings menu. Usually in the Settings there is an option for you to manage your apps, such as seeing how much space they are taking up and to delete them.
- Launch Settings
- Go to the Apps section
- Select the app you want to delete and then tap Uninstall
Now, it should be noted that different phone manufacturers place their app settings in different menus, but in general that would be how you can find a list of apps installed on your phone and how to uninstall them.
But what if you can’t uninstall those apps?
There are some preinstalled apps that can be deleted and uninstalled like regular apps, but there are some that just cannot be deleted unless you want to go through the trouble of rooting your phone, which we won’t be getting into. If you’d rather not go through the hassle of learning how to root your phone, then the next best thing would be to simply disable them.
- Launch Settings
- Go to the Apps section
- Select the app you want to disable
- Tap Permissions
- Tap Disable
You will be prompted that disabling the app could affect the function of other apps. In some cases this might be true, but usually it’s fine. If you find apps starting to act weird or not functioning as they should, then this could be the reason, but if not then you’re good to go.
Uninstall Apps Through Google Play
If you’d rather not go through your phone’s Settings, uninstalling apps through Google Play is an alternative. The main difference is that Google Play would show you apps that you have downloaded from the Play Store, whereas the Settings app pretty much lists all apps on your phone.
So this might be useful if you’re trying to uninstall apps from the Play Store, or if you want to reinstall them from the Play Store again.
- Launch Google Play Store
- Tap your profile photo
- Select Manage apps and device
- Check the app you want to delete
- When you’re ready, tap the trash can icon
- Confirm you want to uninstall it and you’re all set

Ever since the launch of the first Apple Watch, Apple has largely kept the same design of its smartwatch. While they did introduce slightly larger displays in the Series 4 onwards, for the most part it still looked the same. However, leading up to the announcement of the Apple Watch Series 7, there were rumors about a potential redesign.
It turns out that the rumors were wrong, sort of.
While the Apple Watch Series 7 was not the massive redesign the rumors claimed it to be, there were some design changes but they are kind of subtle, but overall the watch still looks largely the same. However, some of the rumors were right, such as the increase in display size where it is now pushed even closer to the edge.
According to Apple, we’re looking at 20% more screen area and 40% thinner borders. Comparing it side-by-side to the older models makes the size upgrade more apparent.
Speaking of displays, the Series 7 comes with a more crack-resistant display and will also be the first Apple Watch to have an IP6X certification for dust resistance, and WR50 water resistance. Apple also claims that the Apple Watch Series 7 will be able to charge 33% faster than the Series 6, while maintaining the same 18 hour battery life.
While there are no new health sensors, Apple did introduce some new software features like fall detection during workouts, so basically if you were fine with the health features from the previous models, then this shouldn’t be any different.
There will be a bunch of new bands for users to choose from, and Apple made it a point to mention that older bands will remain compatible with the Series 7 despite the larger display.
The Apple Watch Series 7 will be priced starting at $399 and will be available this fall with no specific dates mentioned.

Apple is launching a new iPad model. This is the most affordable iPad model in the lineup, it’s cheaper than the iPad Air and iPad Pro. Today’s new iPad replaces the existing $329 iPad in the lineup.
It features Apple’s A13 chip. Apple originally unveiled the A13 for the iPhone 11. As a reminder, the existing iPad uses the A12 Bionic. Apple is keeping the same familiar design with a 10.2-inch display.
When it comes to the camera, you can expect improved auto focus and low-light performance. The front-facing is receiving a huge upgrade as it now has a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera with a 122° view angle.
Apple is also bringing center stage to the iPad. That feature automatically detects what’s happening during a video call and crops the image to that part of the video feed in real time. It’s going to improve your family video-conferencing sessions.
The entry-level iPad is also getting True Tone for the first time. It’s a sort of white-balance adjustment feature for the display. Like the previous version, the new iPad supports the first-generation Apple Pencil with its built-in Lightning connector.
The new iPad will be available next week for $329 with 64GB (instead of 32GB for the previous generation). You can also get a model with cellular connectivity and schools can buy this iPad for $299. This model of iPad comes in silver and Space Gray.
