NVIDIA Rumored To Relaunch The RTX 2060 With Double The Memory

At the moment, NVIDIA’s GPUs are in 30-series range, but earlier this year, there have been rumors and reports suggesting that NVIDIA is actually exploring the idea of bringing back older models from the 10-series and 20-series, like the RTX 2060 for example. It was initially reported that it could come with 8GB of VRAM, up from 6GB, but a new report suggests otherwise.

According to the new report, apparently when NVIDIA does eventually relaunch the RTX 2060, it might actually be launching with double the amount of memory, meaning that instead of 6GB, it could relaunch with a whopping 12GB of VRAM instead.

NVIDIA is currently facing some shortages with its RTX 30-series, which is why the company is looking to bring back some of its older models that rely on a different architecture. The RTX 2060 was actually launched back in 2019 and was considered a great entry-level GPU for those who wanted one of NVIDIA’s Turing GPUs.

Many praised the GPU’s price-to-performance ratio and it was well-received until 2020 where the company discontinued it. There is currently no word on when the RTX 2060 will be relaunched, but as NVIDIA expects the Ampere GPU shortage to carry over into 2022, hopefully it will be soon for those who are looking to build a new gaming PC.

Apple Reportedly Testing 3,000 DPI Displays For Its VR Headset

Resolution alone does not necessarily determine how sharp a display is. For example, a 1-inch display with a resolution of 640×480 would look incredibly sharp compared to an 8-inch display with the same resolution. This disparity is even more obvious the closer we look at a display, like when we wear VR or AR headsets.

This is why companies are working to crank up the density of their VR headsets and according to a report from The Elec, Apple is apparently looking to test a display for its rumored VR headset that could result in a pixel density of 3,000 PPI. Apparently to achieve this, Apple needs to go beyond using OLED which apparently maxes out around 600 PPI.

Instead, Apple is reported to have requested a sample of fine metal mask from APS Holdings with a pixel density of 3,000 PPI for application in virtual reality devices. Now, this doesn’t mean that Apple’s VR headset is guaranteed 3,000 DPI, but rather Apple wants to test out the tech to see if it can be applied to production before deciding what to do from there.

At the moment there is no word on when Apple’s rumored VR/AR headset will be launching. Many have speculated it could take place in the next few years, and a recent report claims that it could also be Apple’s CEO Tim Cook’s final new major product category before he leaves the company.

Check Out Razer’s Brand New Wolverine V2 Gaming Controller

There are plenty of gaming controllers out there in the market today, but if you thought that many of them look rather dull and boring, then maybe Razer could have something for you. The company has recently taken the wraps off its brand new controller in the form of the Razer Wolverine V2 Chroma.

This is part of the company’s Wolverine series of gaming controllers and as the name suggests, features RGB lighting around the edges. While some might say it looks kind of tacky and slightly obnoxious, we actually think it looks pretty cool, but hey, to each their own.

The controller will feature mecha-tactile action buttons and D-pad that will provide gamers with more tactile feedback, so if you hate those mushy gaming controllers, this could be what you’re after. In addition to the usual buttons on the front of the controller, the Wolverine V2 Chroma also features six additional multi-function buttons.

This includes four extra triggers and two buttons that can be remapped using Razer’s software. Speaking of customization, the controller also features the use of interchangeable thumbstick caps so that you can swap it out to something that’s more comfortable for your gaming needs.

If this sounds like a controller you wouldn’t mind owning, the Razer Wolverine V2 Chroma is currently available for purchase via Razer’s website where it is priced at $150.

You can now stream Xbox Series X/S games to your PC

The Xbox app on PC just got much more useful. You can now use it to stream games from your Xbox Series X/S. In addition, the app can now stream all of the console titles available through the cloud on Xbox Game Pass.

This is the first time Microsoft has enabled remote play on PC for Xbox Series X/S — folks have been able to stream Xbox One games to PC since 2015. The company says it has improved the feature’s stability and added features such as being able to stream games from consoles in 1080p at up to 60 frames per second and play some original Xbox and Xbox 360 games.

Microsoft noted that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers in 22 countries can now play console titles through the cloud on Windows 10 (and soon, Windows 11) PCs. As long as you have a membership, compatible controller and a sturdy enough internet connection, all you need to do is hit the Cloud Gaming button in the Xbox app and you’ll be able to stream console and PC games and play either by yourself or with friends.

There are currently 294 console games available through the cloud on Game Pass Ultimate, compared with 115 PC games. Those include some EA games via the bundled EA Play membership.

The update marks another step forward in Microsoft’s goal of bringing cloud gaming to as many devices as possible. Last month, the company said it would enable cloud gaming on Xbox consoles this holiday season. Game Pass subscribers have been able to stream games from the cloud via web browsers since June

Meanwhile, if you want to play a game on your Series X/S but your TV’s in use, you’ll able to hop into a session on your desktop or laptop instead. Remote play is also available on iOS and Android phones and tablets.
