AMC’s The Walking Dead, as a rule, isn’t the sort of series that provides a lot of belly laughs. There might be some chuckles during some of its weirdness or the occasional put-down, but mostly it wants to convey the danger and dread that permeates the world of the show. I assume that was also the case with tonight’s…

Apple has always frowned on third-party, especially DIY, repairs to protect its secrets as well as its reputation. It has implemented hurdles in both hardware design and software to discourage unauthorized repairs, though that hasn’t really stopped the likes of iFixit from trying and fighting for the right to repair. The iPhone 13 series is no different, but the iPhone … Continue reading
According to a report from a few days ago, it seems that some developers realized that their apps weren’t taking full advantage of the iPhone 13’s 120Hz refresh rate. This led to speculation that Apple had hobbled the feature to help preserve battery life, but as it turns out, that isn’t the case.
In a support document posted on its website, Apple states that all apps can take advantage of the 120Hz refresh rate in the iPhone 13, and that they will just need to opt-in. This is versus the iPad Pro in which apps don’t need to be updated to make use of the 120Hz display, but presumably this might be due to the iPad Pro’s larger battery.
The document also highlights what developers can expect from the 120Hz display, which has a dynamic refresh rate meaning that it isn’t always fixed at 120Hz and that this isn’t something developers can force, so they should be aware of it when they’re testing their apps.
Apple has also since confirmed that there is a bug affecting some animations that rely on Core Animation and that a fix is on its way. In the meantime, there’s nothing that end-users can do except wait and hope that the developers of their favorite apps will update their apps to take advantage of the new display’s refresh rates.

Concept Apple TV Imagines A MagSafe Mount That Can Wirelessly Charge The Siri Remote
Posted in: Today's ChiliImage credit – Iván Antón
As far as set-top boxes are concerned, the Apple TV is small and unobtrusive and can be easily hidden if need be. However, could the design of the Apple TV be further improved upon? We imagine so, and that is something that designer Iván Antón has attempted to do in his own concept of the Apple TV.
In his concept, Antón envisions the Apple TV as having a wall plug built directly into it. This would allow the Apple TV to be plugged directly into a wall outlet, thus saving users the need for an extra power cable in addition to the HDMI cable that the device uses. This creates a much neater alternative to the current setup.
However, what we think could be the selling point here would be how Antón has included a MagSafe charger built into the Apple TV itself. By building MagSafe into the Apple TV itself, it would allow users to wirelessly charge the Siri Remote. It would also make it a good place for users to store and mount the remote when not in use so that it doesn’t get replaced.
This is a much more elegant solution compared to the current setup which still relies on wired charging for the Siri Remote. That being said, this is a concept so don’t get your hopes up at seeing it made a reality anytime soon, or at all.

Typically, Apple refreshes its iPhone design every couple of years, but we reckon since the iPhone 6, the redesigns have stopped becoming very obvious as it felt like a few changes here and there, but nothing as wild as the iPhone 3G going to the iPhone 4, and the iPhone 4 to the iPhone 5.
However, that changed last year with the iPhone 12 coming from the curved design of the iPhone 11 series, and it seems that we can look forward to yet another redesign in 2022. This is according to a report from Mark Gurman in his latest Power On newsletter where he claims that for the iPhone 14, it is expected to be a “complete redesign”.
According to Gurman, it seems that the minor change we saw in this year’s iPhone was apparently a sign that Apple was working on bigger changes that might take longer to implement.
This is not the first time we’re hearing about a potential redesign as about a week ago, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that the iPhone 14 could do away with the notch in favor of a hole-punch cutout that we see from other Android handset makers. Whether or not these reports turn out to be accurate remains to be seen, but if you’re looking for a more significant upgrade, it might be worth waiting until 2022.
