Google just recently unveiled what may be its most notable Pixel phone since the first one in 2016, and, save for a few relatively minor kinks, it turned out to be just as good as we had hoped for. Sure, availability isn’t immediate, and that strip of plastic at the top definitely looks out of place, but, all in all, … Continue reading

With Google jumping on the mobile chipset bandwagon and OPPO reportedly following closely, Qualcomm is probably feeling some heat as new challengers try to infringe on its territory. Of course, the tech company has already been unseated for a few consecutive quarters by MediaTek, and the latter might be poised to make its biggest attempt yet. Early information about its … Continue reading
Some might have been living with the presumption that Google’s so-called Photos product is simply a mobile gallery app or cloud storage for images. While that’s partly correct, Google has also managed to turn into something more, usually with its typical machine learning magic sauce. From social sharing to printed photos, Google has added some value on top of an … Continue reading
Web browsers have become almost like operating systems running inside operating systems, with all the features they pack and the uses that people have for them. Some have even started “living” on the Web, or at least depend on Web apps for work and play. Being the most popular web browser in the market, Chrome naturally has to keep up … Continue reading
Earlier this year, Apple announced their brand new 24-inch iMac with the M1 chipset. However, conspicuously missing was the 27-inch model. For those who have been holding out for the 27-inch refresh, you might be pleased to learn that it is expected to arrive in 2022 and it could be one hell of an upgrade.
According to DSCC CEO Ross Young, it seems that the upcoming 27-inch iMac could be a massive upgrade over its predecessor. Young claims that the computer will be launching in the first quarter of 2022, which makes sense as Apple usually announces new Macs in the early part of the year.
OK, tweeted too early. The 27″ MiniLED screen is going in an iMac in Q1’22, not an external monitor. May see a monitor later. Still 24Hz – 120Hz variable refresh…Sorry for the confusion!
— Ross Young (@DSCCRoss) October 20, 2021
He also claims that the iMac will be using a mini LED display, a first for Apple’s iMac lineup, but it will also be the second Mac to utilize the display tech (the first being the recently announced MacBook Pros). These displays are also rumored to be ProMotion displays with a variable refresh rate of 24Hz to 120Hz.
Young does not mention what other upgrades we can expect, but since the 27-inch iMacs are seen as the more powerful of the two available models, it is possible that they could come equipped with the M1 Pro or M1 Max chipsets. As for the design, given that Apple introduced a brand new design with the 24-inch model, we expect that a similar treatment will be given to the 27-inch version.
Take it with a grain of salt, but if you’ve been holding out for the 27-inch iMac, then hopefully we’ll have more details next year.

PayPal is probably best known for being a platform that allows people to send and receive money, where people can make purchases on websites and use PayPal to facilitate the payments. However, it seems that the company could be looking to expand beyond just offering such a service.
According to multiple reports from Reuters and Bloomberg, it appears that PayPal is in late-stage talks about possibly acquiring Pinterest for a whopping $45 billion. It seems like an odd purchase for PayPal since on the surface, Pinterest doesn’t really seem like the type of company PayPal would buy.
However, given the rise of social commerce where we’re seeing more social media platforms allowing users to make purchases directly within its platform, it looks like PayPal wants in on some of that action. Plus as Engadget notes, Pinterest is a safe buy as the company has largely avoided the misinformation scandals and accusations that other platforms like Facebook have faced over the years.
There is no word on when this deal is expected to go through, if at all, so we’ll just have to wait and see. If it does happen though, we imagine that for the most part PayPal will continue to allow Pinterest to run as it is, and maybe we could see PayPal further integrate itself into the platform.
