The California DMV has given both Waymo and Cruise permission to offer the general public autonomous vehicle rides — but only in certain parts of the state and under a set of conditions. Waymo applied for a deployment permit from the DMV back in January, while Cruise submitted its application in March. Now both companies only have to secure a deployment permit from the California Public Utilities Commission to be able to offer paid passenger rides in the state.
Cruise’s permit from the DMV would allow it to deploy five autonomous vehicles without a human driver for commercial services in designated parts of San Francisco. It can offer fully autonomous rides, because it was able to secure a driverless pilot permit from the CPUC back in June. The company’s vehicles can only take passengers between 10 AM and 6PM, can drive with a maximum speed of 30mph and are not allowed to operate in conditions worse than light rain and light fog.
Waymo’s permit, on the other hand, requires the company to put human drivers behind the wheel. Its vehicles can operate in parts of San Francisco and San Mateo counties with a speed limit of 65 mph. Like Cruise’s vehicles, they’re not allowed on the roads in weather conditions worse than light rain and light fog. When it applied for a permit with the DMV, it said it will deploy hybrid Chrysler Pacifica minivans and all-electric Jaguar I-Pace SUVs, which will operation around the clock.
As the DMV’s announcement notes, it has now approved three deployment permits in the state. The first company it approved was Nuro, which uses autonomous vehicles to make deliveries. Since Nuro’s vehicles won’t be shuttling human passengers, the company didn’t have to secure a permit from the CPUC to start its operations.
Earlier this year with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S21, Samsung finally broke the S Pen’s exclusivity to its Note series. However, the downside is that while the Galaxy S21 supports the S Pen, there’s just no place to store it safely, meaning you’d need to keep it in a bag or your pocket where there’s a chance you could lose it.
However, that could change in 2022 with the Galaxy S22. This is according to a tweet by Ice Universe who shared alleged case renders for the Galaxy S22 where as you can see according to the cutouts, there will be a slot for the S Pen, meaning that the Galaxy S22 could actually come with a dedicated slot for the S Pen’s safekeeping.
Breaking:Samsung phone protective case manufacturer has begun to build S22 series protective case . We can see that the camera area is just like our rendered drawing, but unfortunately, It just knows the shape of this area, whether it is “P”or “11” , and he does not know. pic.twitter.com/yYtZF8lZXl

There have been rumors suggesting that Samsung could be merging the Note series into the S-series, and that the Galaxy S22 Ultra could actually be renamed as the Galaxy Note Ultra, which would make sense given the S Pen integration. However Ice Universe followed up with a separate tweet that claims that there will not be a change in name and that it is “confirmed 100%”.
Galaxy S22 Ultra name is comfirmed 100%
Not Note22 Ultra— Ice universe (@UniverseIce) September 30, 2021
Of course, as is the case with all leaks and rumors, they’re best taken with a grain of salt so don’t read too much into this for now and hopefully we’ll be able to uncover more clues about the Galaxy S22 in the future.

It has been a little over a week since Apple released iOS 15. However, it seems that maybe excitement for the update is less than its predecessor because according to the figures by Mixpanel, adoption of iOS 15 is considerably lower than that of iOS 14 in the same timeframe.
According to the numbers, iOS 15 has been installed on 19.3% of devices to date, but when you look at iOS 14, it managed to hit over 30% in the same period of time. This suggests that people are way less enthused about the changes Apple is bringing to iOS 15 and aren’t rushing out to update their devices just yet.
There could be a number of reasons why that is. This could include the various bugs discovered in the initial release that could be holding people back. There could also be the issue of security vulnerabilities that are still present in iOS 15 despite Apple being warned ahead of time, and last but not least, iOS 15 was supposed to introduce Apple’s controversial CSAM scanning feature.
While plans for the implementation of CSAM has been put on hold, there is no indication that Apple will be dropping it, so that could be another reason why users are holding back. We imagine that eventually iOS 15 adoption numbers will rise, but for now, many users seem to be holding off on it.

Samsung Will Now Let You Unlock And Start Your Car Using A Galaxy Smartphone
Posted in: Today's ChiliOne of the features Apple introduced to its iPhone and Apple Watch is that the device can be used as a digital car key, allowing users to unlock their cars using either their smartphone or smartwatch (assuming you have a compatible car model). Now it looks like Samsung has introduced a similar feature to its smartphones as well.
The company has announced that assuming you own a compatible smartphone and car, you will be able to use the company’s Galaxy smartphones to unlock and start your car. This includes newer Samsung devices like the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, the Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy Z Fold 3, the Galaxy S21+ and the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Oddly enough the new Galaxy Z Flip 3 is missing from the list.
However, for now car compatibility is extremely limited as it will only work with the Genesis GV60, but then again, this isn’t really Samsung’s fault as this is still relatively new tech. We imagine that in the future this could eventually become a standard feature. This is made possible thanks to the use of NFC and UWB technology built into the smartphones.
Also, at the start this feature will be limited to Korea where the feature is expected to roll out by the end of the year.
