Although it develops Android for a wide variety of OEM partners, Google naturally reserves some exclusive features for its own Pixel phones. The Personal Safety app, for example, gives Pixel owners a more powerful tool that will ensure their safety or, in the worst-case scenario, at least let their loved ones know their whereabouts in an emergency. Sometimes, however, simple … Continue reading
More than two weeks after Apple proudly unveiled its new Apple Watch Series 7, fans have still not gotten their hands on the device. This is because the company did not issue a specific release date, saying cryptically that the device would be “available later this fall.” That might be changing.

Microsoft made some noise when it announced that Windows 11 would eventually support running Android apps, but it is actually a bit late to the game. Although this “Windows Subsystem for Android” does have technical and performance advantages, it isn’t the only solution available today. For quite a while now, BlueStacks has been offering an emulator that ran a modified … Continue reading
Almost like a one-hit-wonder, Clubhouse’s prestige seems to have started waning now that Facebook and Twitter are also in the running. Of course, there are still many creators and users who prefer to keep their content away from those social media giants, but they are also searching for more features and more control over their live sessions. That’s fortunately coming … Continue reading
Disney settles Scarlett Johansson lawsuit over 'Black Widow' streaming strategy
Posted in: Today's ChiliDisney and Scarlett Johansson are no longer on the outs. The parties have reached a settlement for the lawsuit Johansson filed over the hybrid release strategy used for Black Widow. If you’ll recall, the actor sued Disney over the company’s decision to release her movie in theaters and on Disney+ at the same time, accusing the entertainment giant of breach of contract.
Johansson’s camp argued that Black Widow was supposed to be released in theaters exclusively under her deal with Marvel. According to the lawsuit she filed, she could lose as much as $50 million due to the hybrid release, seeing as her compensation is tied directly with the movie’s box office success and doesn’t include a cut from what Disney would make from streaming. People have had to pay $30 for a Premier Access pass to watch the movie on Disney+, and the company said Black Widow earned $60 million from streaming during its opening weekend.
Her lawsuit also said that her camp tried to contact Disney and Marvel to re-negotiate their deal, but they were allegedly unresponsive. Neither party disclosed the terms of their agreement, but both issued a statement mentioning future collaborations. Alan Bergman, chairman of Walt Disney Studios, said he looks “forward to working together on a number of upcoming projects, including Disney’s Tower of Terror.”
Meanwhile, entertainment workers are gearing up for a strike because studios like Disney are rapidly producing content after pandemic-related restrictions had lifted. The situation led to poor working conditions with long hours and no breaks for production crew. Entertainment unions are hoping to convince studios to make changes, including ending the lower pay scale for smaller streaming services. Under the current rules, streaming services with fewer than 20 million subscribers like Apple TV+ does can pay their workers lower wages.
Apple announced the Apple Watch Series 7 at the iPhone event in September, but stopped short on saying when the device would actually launch. This seemed to be in line with earlier rumors that suggested that there could be issues with production and that the global chip shortage contributed to it.
This is why Apple was unable to provide a firm release date on the smartwatch, but now according to Jon Prosser of FrontPageTech, he claims that based on what he’s heard from his sources, the Apple Watch Series 7 is expected to begin shipping out mid-October which means that we should be able to order it around that time as well.
Do note that this is a rumor as Apple hasn’t confirmed anything yet, but since we are pretty much in October already, we expect that Apple should have some details to share soon if the rumors are true. If not we’ll just have to wait.
The Series 7 was admittedly a bit of a disappointing launch. While it does come with a slightly updated design, it wasn’t the massive overhaul that we had been hearing about. The upgrades also don’t feel that spectacular and there aren’t any new health sensors. If you’re looking to upgrade coming from a Series 3 or Series 4, it might be a good upgrade, otherwise if you don’t mind holding out, the Series 8 could prove to be a more compelling device.

Remember back in the day when smartphones would come with all kinds of accessories like charging bricks, cables, earphones, and maybe more? These days we’re starting to see more manufacturers ditch things like bundled earphones, but apparently not Apple where over in France, the iPhone 13 still ships with a pair of Lightning EarPods.
This is due to local laws in the country where it is required that all smartphones must come with a hands-free kit to protect children from potential electromagnetic radiation. This is why Apple is including the EarPods which has a built-in microphone that allows users to use the iPhone hands-free.
What’s interesting to note is that Apple does make concessions for different laws and regulations. We have to wonder if this could mean that some countries could ultimately force the company to include chargers with its smartphones.
Over in Brazil, Apple is facing some pushback on their decision to not include chargers with the iPhone 13. The country’s consumer protection agency has announced plans to investigate the company over its practices where earlier this year, they actually hit Apple with a $2 million fine over the same issue with 2020’s iPhone 12.
Apple has cited environmental reasons for ditching the charging brick, claiming that many of us already own USB chargers which will work with the iPhone, although the company’s decision to sell a separate fast-charging brick at $20 has also raised some eyebrows.

If you’ve ever built a PC or bought gaming peripherals, there’s a good chance you might be familiar with Corsair as a brand. The company makes all kinds of gaming hardware like RAM, PC power supply units, keyboards, and mice, and now it looks like the company has expanded to gaming monitors as well.
Meet the Corsair Xeneon 32QHD165, the company’s first gaming monitor which will feature a 32-inch display and an IPS LED display panel. It will sport a QHD resolution, as evidenced by its name, and also a 165Hz, which once again we suppose is kind of obvious in the name as well (points for creativity).
The monitor will pay nicely with AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-SYNC so you don’t have to worry about issues such as screen tearing. Its speedy 165Hz refresh rate will also ensure your games and day-to-day use of the monitor will look silky smooth, a step above other gaming monitors which typically offer 120-144Hz refresh rates.
Corsair has also taken into consideration that the display might be used by streams and has integrated it with Elgato’s Stream Deck software and the company’s own iCUE. That being said, the Corsair Xeneon 32QHD165 does not come cheap at $800, but if you’re keen it’s already available for purchase.
